After-market catalyic converter help
My daughter’s '04 RX8 wouldn't start and was towed to the local Madza dealership. The vehicle was 94k miles on it. Dealership said it was flooded, corrected that and replaced the ignition coils. Dealership said that the catalyic converter is going bad and here in Texas, it won't pass State Inspection if the check engine light is on. Price to replace the CC by dealership $1600. What after-market CC would someone recommend?

Yeah new cats are pricey
As started above go with a used cat. Buy it on here or call around to some salvage yards.
did they check/ change the plugs?
04 should have an updated starter, was this installed in the past?
