Aftermarket Catalytic Converters

Aftermarket Catalytic Converters
My car recently died on me for reasons unrelated to my converter. However, while it was in the dealership getting some hoses popped back on, they informed me my converter is dented and i need a new one. 1500.00 price tag. What manufacturers make a fitting catalytic converter with not such an astronomical price. I am not a racer, I just love my car very much and would rather not have to let it go because I can't afford to replace a part that is normally 200.00 on any other car.

Shop around for prices at muffler shops.
I believe any aftermarket Cat is now illeagal.
But still get one cause dealer is too expensive.
Ask Paul at Mazmart. He is our Vendor on the forum.
I will not recomend a RP super CAT as I have seen too many fail.

Aftermarket cat's aren't illegal, though Cali has some strict laws regarding what cats you can use with a given car. I pity those that have to put up with the enviro-***** out there.
In most states, the maker of the cat doesn't matter so long as it is designed for the car and passes emissions.

I'm just trying to find some online dealers for them. I seem to be having trouble locating any that are actually in stock besides the really expensive custom full exhaust setups coming out of california. I don't even live in a county that requires emissions testing.

so what if it has a dent, unless the ceramic cat inside is broken, you should be fine.
unbolt the cat pipe from the exhaust manifold, look inside: do you see broken pieces floating around? If not, it's not broken.
if you truly want to replace it simply because there's a dent, try www.rx7.com and look at their high flow cat.

Dealership claims there are parts that have broken off and are floating around, but I would think that would change the way my car ran so once i get it back tomorrow, I'm going to do just that. And thanks for the link!
