Another oil thread?

Hey guys, I know there are tons of oil threads out there. However, my question isn't about synthetic vs conventional or weights. I'm wondering, what kind of repercussions are there if i were to mix different brands of oils. Like if i mixed 3 quarts of Mobil synthetic with a quart of Royal Purple Synthetic. Is there anything wrong with that? Will it cause problems?

From Mobil Ones website. CLICK HERE

Can different synthetic motor oils be mixed together?
Mobil 1 is fully compatible with conventional motor oils, semi-synthetic motor oils and other synthetic motor oils, should it be necessary to mix them. However, it is important to note that the superior performance of Mobil 1 will be reduced by diluting it in any way.

Now that wasn't so hard was it?

Lol. Mixing won't kill anything if you're switching to a new brand. But there's no reason to make a habit out of it. The manufacturers put a lot of thought into the additive packages; just mixing two additive packages together at random isn't likely to improve things.

its more of saving on costs than wanting to boost performance, so their shouldn't be anything wrong with mixing?

Mixing is a stupid idea in the long run. probably will be okay but why? How do you save money? I just got 5 quarts of 0W30 GC with a K&N oil filter for $27.99. A jug of Mobil 1 at Walmart is only $22.00. To me RP is not worth the extra money but if I didn't have a million other hobbies I would run it.

where do u get the 0w30 gc from for so cheap? even with a 22 jug of mobil 1, the k&n filter would run me atleast 10+. I wanted to try royal purple. And like you, i have too much else to spend so much on it every oil change.

Autozone is currently running a special on all Castrol oil but they all run competing specials so you just have to check the paper.
