Any chance for aftermarket Larger Gas Tank?
Yes, the milage sucks, but is comperable to similar power vehicles (V8 mustangs others...).
But, they put a gastank in for a high MPG vehicle. (Not sure but I think it is 14 Gallon).
This car really needs a 20 gallon (I would settle for 18) tank.
Any chance that a few years out, some aftermarket company might make a larger tank that might fit? (I haven't looked to see how much room is available).

Too bad Mazda engineers could not have provided a larger tank so the RX-8 could easily get more than 300 miles.
Guess I have to sacrifice somewhere to get the rest of the package it offers.

that, and also overall vehicle mass: tanks are kinda heavy without fuel, and very heavy when full... you don't want to have a Miata with a 50L tank in it (pretend one could fit) 'cause it'd grossly upset the balance and performance of the car when full.

Wow you must have a bigger tank then me.
My Fuel warning light ussually comes on at about 220.
Let me ask, when you guys get 280 or more miles on a tank, how many gallons then fit in.
I have yet to get more than 13 gallons, even when the warning light is on.

The fuel capacity of the US spec RX-8 is 15.9 US gallons. See http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...ehicleCode=RX8
