Any RX-8 gurus in northern Europe?
I'm in need of a mechanic that actually knows what an 8 looks like. I live in Denmark, but where do i go - do i look in other countries like Sweden/Germany/UK?
I preferably want someone that is well known and comes highly recomended. I think that a guy that has done several complete rebuilds is a guy that knows his stuff - where do i find him?
In Denmark there is only about 50 RX-8s so the Mazda stealerships have no clue what they are doing.
I am sick and tired of talking to a mechanic that clearly knows less than me, and that has NO interest in research.
To this day i have tried 3 different dealers (the biggest ones in Copenhagen) and they have never been able to fix a single problem i have had with the car, and they charge like i'm driving Ferrari.
I have via this forum diagnosed several issues, found DIY guides, and fixed what was wrong. I'm handy, but not a mechanic - if i can, why can't they?
It's safe to say that the trust has been broken.
So, I am having hot start problems, and have done all up to replacing CAT or engine. I go to the dealer, and tell them that i want a compression test. They get back to me and says that there is not a single Wankel compression tester in all of Denmark, so they can't test - but i clearly need a new engine. Rebuilding is not done at any shops. A new engine with installation will cost me €5.500,-
Like i'm going to throw that kind of money after them without making sure first. WTF?
The car is a 2004, and has 115.000 km. on it (72.000 miles). Sure an engine is possibly the right solution, but the price is high and the mechanic is a clown.
Does anybody know a workshop with a healthy interest in RX-8s and a mechanic that has a perfectionists approach and experience?
I wanna feel like the man knows his stuff and i can have an educated conversation about my 8 with him before i throw large sums of money his way.
Hope you guys can help
