anyone with the 09 oil pressure reading

as the title says--lots of discussion going on about engine oil pressures. The 09 lubrication system had some major changes to it. I have not seen anyone speak or reveal the 09 engines oil pressure.
Help?

I think OD is talking about "REAL LIFE" oil pressure readings. not on-paper spec.

Yea, probably.

I don't think anyone has been able to get any oil gauges hooked up in an 09 because of the new oil filter location and it's not part of the OBDII bus.

That is what I have hoped to be wrong SOMEWHERE
Surely someone has a reading?
What does the factory manual say is spec pressure?--we have the by pass pressures's but i am looking for the engine running pressure min-max.

I called RB about a gauge set for my '09 the other day. They said no one there had done anything yet for '09 gauges, at least as far as the CS guy knew. I would not be surprised with the totally anemic sales figures if aftermarket parts were very slow in coming. especially ones with any serious development cost. I don't recall exactly. but I think annual units moved 09/30/08 to 09/30/09 was 3,300. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But there are vendors on the forum who have a lot more insight than me about this. Maybe they can pipe up and let us know what's coming.

thanks for the info dude. Does look dismal doesnt it.
I cant believe that no one in the world has real time data of the 09's oil pressure. Jeez.

I am pretty sure the sandwich plate works for 09+ too. the oil filter based is the same size.

Any 09 around NYC ? I can just take mine off and put it on to get the readings ?

It doesn't work because of the shield they put around the filter from what I've heard.

yeah, I've also heard the sandwich plate won't fit in the '09 so it could be some time before we have real-time oil PSI readings from an '09 owner.

I wonder if you can't just remove the shield altogether. I haven't read anything about it's function besides making it impossible to use the sandwich plate and preventing the use of non OEM filters.

Somebody just would has to check it in a service shop with a general pressure tester gauge connected to the hole of the oil pres. switch.

i wish somebody would and get per 1K readings. This may become a very important thing to know.

Is this what you are after OD, I have only posted it about 10,000,000,000 times...
but what do I know...

That is all the factory specs I can find at the mo on running pressures, even checked the Factory WS Manual, half useless, all they are today (manuals) are resistance checkers (electrical) if it fails meter test you throw part out.

Not so easy, the 09 does not have the Oil Pressure Switch by or under the Oil Filter like S1's, it is located on top of the motor RH Side under air intake gear, and it is attached to ONE of the EMOP's and is larger and different also wiring wise..

I have also posted this 120,001,256,001 times.

Ash--mate---I think i have read it 10,000, 000, 000 times!Lol
No what I am looking for is how the 09's pressure is building---per 1K. What is the actuall pressure at idle, at 3K and so forth .
You started this and I am dang glad you did.

Here OD...

This is the 09 Oil RETURN pipe, it bolts (2) in the same position as the S1's where the Oil Filter Housing used to go...

But see the Hexagonal or "Allen Key" GRUB Screw, I am thinking perhaps an Oil Pressure Guage fitting could be tee-ed off from this screw??, it is quite easy to access, anywhere else is a nightmare of removal...

What do you think...??

I just changed my oil filter for the first time and it sits up inside a cast in shroud so:

There in no way to get rid of that.

I never seen a 09 engine bay in person so im not so sure but ...

from your picture, it seems that there is 2 bolts holding down the shroud ? maybe we can remove that without any harm ?

The filter isangled slightly down and to the rear for clearance. The filter seat is machined into the base of the same shrouded assembly as far as I could tell. It's full shrouded on 3 sides. I've never installed a filter base for OP sender but I assume they are somewhat larger than the filter and would not likely fit. Filter is a close fit as you can see. Cap wrench is the only way to get it out. Must be an easier way to pull OP reading as some suggested earlier.

I nicked the photo from the DIY thread on '09 oil change.

Great to get to isn't it...Not..

I have changed about 5 filters and it is never "easy" like earlier RX's, but I guess it is progress as now all the oil is filtered before it goes through coolers, EMOP's and engine..

You still can't help making a bit of an oil mess..

And yes, almost impossibly to remove the cast alloy flange, I think it serves two purposes as a guard or protector and to prevent owners from installing larger filters?

Here is another angle of the 09 filter set up...and that round thing on top (like a flash light battery) is the OCV Oil Control Valve.

Nice job. I thought about it, but decided not to take the motor out to change the filter, though it might have been easier.

It is in a nasty place. And if you jack it on the left to get to the filter, you can't get all the oil out due to the forward left corner placement of the drain plug in the pan.

I think I need a lift in the garage.
