Anyone with a blown engine not gotten a new under warrenty

So I'm preety sure I lost an apex seal. The car will turn over butRumbles and shakes like crazy and unless I rev the engine will just shut down. Also based on the exhaust smell it seems like the engine running really rich. Anyway I don't have the slips for my oil changes and since this has been such an issue has Mazda been fair with this? Have they been swapping out the engine based on the fact that an apex seal is gone at 62 k miles?

Its all a game of luck really. I would have a bit of a problem too since I do all my own oil changes, but I'd probably just find someone with a shop and pay em $50 to write up a few years worth of receipts for oil changes.

But wait until someone gives you hell for it first. I haven't heard as many horror stories in the past 2 years as I did when I first bought my car.

Keep all your slips if your doing the oil changes yourself. I just found out thatost auto parts stores don't keep purchase records over 3 months. In anycase I just found out I lost compression in one rotor so the engine is done and Mazda wants a service log. All the receipts I can get.

Does anyone know the actual engine failure rate I mean based on what I have seen here is seems really high.

Same thing happened to me after buying my 8. Had it two months, engine blew on the 4th of July.

Just go to a shop with dates and mileages when you changed the oil pay them to make up slips. You gotta know someone who has a shop or works at a shop. Friend of a friend of a friend. Then write up a whole letter advising that you found the sheets and then state if they do not honor the warranty (if applicable) you'll seek legal action.

Worked for me new engine at 70,000 miles.

I mean there ARE people out there Who really doesnt give a **** about their cars --- I know some people are JUST like that.

If they dont take care of their car then their car ***** up --- even tho its their fault, they still gonna say "This car SUCKS" ---- For some reason, Its NEVER their fault

I keep all my oil receipts ---- got at LEAST 50 of them. I got 5 cars in the family(I own 3)

Thats a lot of oil change every year

If im not mistaken our 8's do have a 6yr/100,000 powertrain warranty. If you have mods i would switch them out to stock.

^^ i do believe its 8 years/100,000

theres a thread with the requirements and a link to the warranty..... if you want to know of people who didnt get it while under warranty for any reason be it after market mods or not having documentation of maintenance i think youll find it there....

though im sure even though preowned with no maintenance records as long as you havent voided your warranty if you tell them that you have no maintenance records due to it being preowned ive read that the dealer said no but after a call to mazda north america they got the ok and replaced it so im thinking it depends on your dealer and your situation.... as stated in....

The car has a 5/60 powertrain warranty and a 8/100 engine core warranty.
I have had the car since new in 6/04 and have had 3 engines replaced under warranty. The last one, a year ago, they asked me for my oil change records. The dealership had been giving me coupons for free changes, so they had the records. Since I don't get the coupons anymore, I have been doing my own changes and updating the service record of my car on mazdausa.com.

Someone had posted that they told their shop to put in the service records that they put in 5w-20 even though they were running something heavier. I'm doing my own changes and plan to log them at mazdausa.com. I guess even though they "recommend" 5-20, I should still list my changes with the oil that I'm using (currently 15w-40 diesel) so that my receipts match my records. Anyone disagree?

I didn't need service records when mine was replaced for a second time at 79K a few weeks ago. At first they wanted them, but they later called and told me not to worry about it as there were plenty of records in their system (not a dealer that I normally visited-so I assume corporate records).

Didn't need any records the first time right after I got the car at 47K or so, either, but I think things were looked at differently when the 4206F campaign came out versus now without the constant recalls/updates.

i think the engine failure rate is really high--here in Ga --- 5 of the ga rx8 club members cars have had engines replace--one member had 2 engines already. I think Mazda did the 8 yr 100K warrenty to prevent a class action lawsuit. They screwed up and they are not able to fix it.
The redesigned 09 engine ---lets wait and see--so far so good.

5w20 is "recommended" weight, NOT required.

some dealership might try to pull you on that one, all u need to do is pull your manual out, POINT IT TO THE SERVICE WRITER where the word "recommended" is, then pull your latest Webster dictionary out, find the word and POINT it to the service writer what that word means.

but Diesel I dont know ...

I'll post up my records so you can "see" what it would look like.

EDIT: Now it's just a game of fill in the blanks You could copy and paste the letters to make the appropriate wording and to make it look as authentic as possible. If you need any help, let me know.

And yes I get my oil changes from GoodYear. My brother and a friend of mine work there. $20 for a lift and oil is a good deal to me, especially in the winter.

I keep my self-service records on the Mazda owner's site, as well as hardcopy receipts of course.

You may not even need the service records. Sometimes they ask for them and other times they don't.

Oh, btw, My engine runs fine.... now that its been replaced Due to the amount of variables that can cause a rotary engine to fail(the biggest one being the owner not knowing a damn thing about the car and not performing proper maint) gives the rotary a bad name. When there is a problem, you will get a thread. When something just works, everyone is quiet. However, since you are on this website, one would assume that you have all the information needed at your finger tips making you some what knowledgable. If you saw what kind of problems it had and still bought the car, then you sir belong here. If not, sell it and go buy a damn civic or a prius.

I just went through all of this. Just so you know my autostore (advance discount autoparts) has records on file for the past 3 years!!!! anyway, you will need the proof of maint. the warrenty clearly states that you need it. Might as well start looking for places to get the information.

Now its time to start premixing and use 20w50 or at least 10w40

I have like 50+ receipts from the last 5 years ...

If they ask for it, I can get it to them the next day,

if they dont, thats good, less trouble.

So it really depends if the dealership "believes" you.

Yeah, the dealer said I was the first person at this specific dealer that MazdaUSA requested the maint records for. It's hit or miss.

they are starting to ask for more proof. It makes sense. they have already lost so much money on this.

I keep all my receipts.........then they end up as clear pieces of paper 6 months later.

I'm screwed.
