Anyone ever install a Valet 561t?
Just ordered a Valet 561t, along with a transponder bypass. I've researched the hell out of all the threads, and I'm pretty sure I can do this on my own. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever installed one in their "8".
I have a Titanium grey, 05, GT manual transmission. came with a switch blade key fob. after doing my research, I decided that I didn't want an extra remote on my key chain, and my factory alarm suits me just fine. that's where the 561t comes in. I've seen the threads on the Nuetral safety switch, so please dont "remote start" bash me for installing on a manual trans. I know about bypassing the clutch. I even found the wiring diagram, so I feel pretty confident about installing it myself. Just looking for a few pointers if anyone has any insight. The only thing that I noticed as a downside to this product is the factory remote range. I have pretty decent (ok) range on mine, but looking to see if there are any mods I can do to improve that. such as adding on an antenna of some sort to the factory receiver. That may be a shot in the dark, but let me know.

hey whats up wawa. what part of the east coast are you from? i work in a specialty retailer as sales and installation staff (among other things.) instead of using the 561, why not just get an 04 key, and ditch the switch blade key. make things easier, plus you will be able to get much better range. as to bypassing the clutch, its actually pretty easy on the 8, as the start signal passes right through the clutch safety switch, so you can just send the start signal to the other (starter motor) side of the switch, that way you cant accidentally start it with the key with the car in gear.

whats up lurch. thanks for the reply. I'm actually in houston right now, I'll be transferring to san diego here in march. anyway, I already thought about ditching the switch blade key and getting an 04, but the dealers here want 90 bucks to program the new key, not only that, 40 for the key itself. I had an aftermarket remote start in my previous car, so I'm pretty familiar with the range difference. The range isnt too bad, atleast I'm content with it. thanks for the tip on the cluch bypass. my worry now is the tachometer tap. I've read the other posts that are here in this site, sort of vague. could you or someone else explain a little easier what the process is. step by step if possible, along with diode and resister hook up, color of wire to tap into and such. thanks alot

tach is easy. you can either go to one of the injectors, or the coils (i went to the coils) and choose the wire that is NOT black/white, black, or white/blue.
90 + 40 to get a new key? to me thats highway robbery. as long as you have 2 keys, you can program another one relatively easily. there is a diy here on the forum for that.
the dealer i deal with here charges 40 bucks for a key and programming as long as you have 2 good keys to start with.
ahh, i figured you were from the east coast, as i dont know of any wawa's too far west

that'll work. as I read from previous posts, all I do is tap into, NOT black/white, black, or white/blue. but just one, right? forgive my ignorance, but what is "NOT black/white"? then from there, put a diode and 10k resistor in series to the module itself. sounds easy.
yea, on my other after market set up, I had the key by itself, then remote on the chain. I just want to see how this one treats me this time around.
by the way, I read somewhere that the receiver for the factory remote is on the passenger side footwell area, is there a possibility to run a wire tapped into it, then that to the upper windshield area and hook an antenna to it for longer range?

no diode or resistor needed. there are going to be 3 wires at each ignition coil plug. of those three wires, two will be either black/white, black, or white/ blue. go to the 3rd wire
no, i dont believe you can extend the factory range at all.

alright lurch. I got the thing installed, the only problem now is I cant get the thing to trigger the start. In order for the system to activate the remote start, it needs to see 2 consecutive negative triggers, or 2 positive 12v ones. I tapped into the "lock motor" (red/blue) thinking that it would be a +12v, so when I hit the lock button twice, the system would register it and activate the start. well, not the case. I also tried tapping the "power lock" wire (lt. green), attatching a 1k ohm resistor, sending a ground pulse each time I hit the lock on the remote. still nothing. I'm sure I did that last part wrong, but it seemed good to me. I tested out the remote start, I gave 2 ground pulses to that wire, it started. I also gave it two +12v pulses, it worked. well, if you have any insight on what to do, where to tap, please let me know. I'm sure I tapped into the right wires the first time, I got the wire listing here.
thanks in advance

thats one of the reasons i never sell these systems to integrate with the factory alarm. it can be quite difficult to get them to work properly. this would be one of those things that i would actually have to sit down and play with the car and system.
