Anyone use autopart store coils?

Like the title says. Anyone here have experience with autoparts stores ignition coils?

Specifically I am looking at the Kragen/O'reillys BWD coils. Only about 30 each and limited lifetime warranty. Thoughts?

Very good price I think. BWD is a good brand, and since our coils are not that great for our car to begin with, plus the lifetime warranty, I think this deal rocks. You can warranty out the coils indefinitely.

I'd give it a shot. The factory ones are pretty bad, and there's a decent chance that these are equal or better.

When i worked at autozone we never checked out any warranty items..... if they didnt work we would swap them out.. those duralast batteries are the only thing we tested and most of the time they were bad and if they were marginal we would still replace them.. but then again it depends on what store you shop at.

All said is very true. Autopart stores here typically don't check anything other than batteries for warranty issues; trust in customers' claim is all it takes.

I think I will try it out. And let's just say I have the hookup at an autopart store, so I think I'm positive I'll be safe even if they fail numerous times.

Autozone/AdvanceAuto always check the return item to see if its really inside the box, other than that, they not gonna bother(not like they know how), and yep, the only thing that they "might" check is the Battery.

At Pepboys, they dont even check the battery I return to, I just told them "its dead" and gave them the receipt, and they just got me another one. no questions asked.

No, I posted an updated opinion on another thread, https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/bwd-coils-anyone-tried-them-out-yet-198434/

Just shop around at some local autoparts stores. If you have the cash to buy Mazda OEM coils, seriously I'd recommend researching brand vs warranty on said local stores.

If you have the trust in "stock replacement" parts from a retail store, and the knowledge regarding original Mazda ignition coils (and all the different revisions of those damned factory part numbers), AND if survival is more important than dominance at the moment, then the answer should be clear.

If not...

Dude just get some coils to hold you over and save up for what you really want, BHR ignition.

And that is why we should all buy BWD coils from Kragen Oreilly stores until we can afford a legit upgrade. Ya, shameless plug right there.

IF you are going to spend $400+, get the BHR ignition upgrade. It will last the life of the car, and is the best ignition you can get.

If you are spending $400+ on stock coils, you are getting raped, and I hope they include a complimentary tube of KY jelly.

Mazmart (vendor here, Mazmart.com) sells all 4 coils for $140 total. And it takes less than 20 minutes to swap them.
