Apex Seal size?
Has anyone read in any technical articles the width of the Apex Seals in the RX-8 RENESIS engine?
Side seal size would also be of interest if anyone knows.

...why wouldn't they be 80mm wide (as wide as the rotors)... the side seals don't... OHHHHHH!! i'm a retard. 
they're probably 2mm thick... those 3mm seals (i have heard) have too much intertia to seal as effectively at high rpms... also, the thicker ones have some kind of reputation for eating rotor housings...?? (albeit very slowly)
...the motor is suppost to "take boost" though, right?? so, maybe these are just super 2mm seals... but wasn't Mazda running like 12psi in the late model 13BREWs from the factory with 2mm seals??
anyways, moot point... in short, i don't really know

Regardless of what some people presume, you can run lots of boost and make big horsepower with 2mm seals.
We are running a Datsun 1200 Coupe drag car over here with a SVI RX-7 engine. It has run 8.4@156mph, and the engine makes approx 700hp running around 26psi. We have been using the std 2mm seals and have had no failures with these seals at all.
The secret is in the tuning.
