Apparently DSC/TCS "full off" isn't full off.

Mazda don't always tell you the reasons...like this 2012 MY MX-5..
If the DSC system is malfunctioning, the DSC OFF light remains flashed.
When the DSC OFF switch is pressed to disable, the DSC OFF light illuminates
Previously if a malfunction happened DSC OFF light remained ON, did not 'flash'.

However, with my present -2.5 deg rear and -1.8 deg front camber settings, it won't let me do 4-wheel slides anymore, since that perfect balance stock is upset. One of these days, I'll decrease the camber spread between f/r and see how the DSG likes it.

05 here, and between autocross, driving on ice, in blizzards, etc... I have found zero difference between one tap off and a full 7 second off. None. Both allow full rotation, full wheel spin, no throttle or brake interference at any time (including though >180 spins, on throttle and off)
And like HiFlight, I've done 4-wheel slides without it kicking in while on (surprise ice on ramps).

Yeah I have never understood the people who turn it off on the street. Our canyon runs can get pretty hairy and the DSC has saved me a couple of times and I have never had an issue keeping up with those who turn it off, even during autox.

Yes, both DSC and TCS were "off" according to the lights. Having done it in the past multiple times and for AutoX. At first I thought it was wheel hop, but no way would it feel the way it did because it just cut power and applied brakes as if both DSC and TCS were on.
No. Hence the reason for the thread.
As absurd as it sounds, it was exactly how I describe it in my original post. Yes, I've had enough driving experience in my 8 to know the difference of when and how the DSC/tCS nannies kick in. I was NOT on the brakes at all, and the throttle was mashed to the floor... Nothing but applied rear brakes and understeer in 1st and it was in the wet too. E-brake was not engaged.
When I got a new battery, I didn't do the procedure to clear the DCS/TSC lights. It was driven a few times (short drives) around the neighborhood, and it decided to clear itself. So I'm wondering if that has anything to do with what is going on now.

Just turn the wheel to one lock left or right, then the other lock to set DSC. Drive at least 10ft to set TCS, though you have to shut off and restart the car to turn the TCS back on.
