Autometer Shift Light

I recently bought a shift light from Autometer. It is the 5343 model. Can anyone help me? I am not sure where to run the signal wire to. This is my 1st post so be gentle. ha ha

PS Autometer said to run it to one of the leading coils negative wire. Not a black/white wire. But the tech wasn't really sure if that would work or not. That was all the info. he could find though after a 1/2 day of searching. He said "See if that will work."

You probably need to find whatever wire is triggering the "beep" sound. Not sure where that is, but I'm sure if you search it will be on this forum somewhere.

Unless you're hearing impaired, or your car is so heavily modded/turboed that you don't ever let it get to 8500 rpms, I would sell/return the shift light (just shift at the "beep)" and use the proceeds to get a more useful gauge.

The beep? I'm not sure the beep wire would help. I know what beep your talking about. I guess I should have said something about it also shows your rpm.

i have a great idea for a "shift light" but dont know how to set it up.
my idea was to have the guage cluster rapidly flash red (the same red light that turns the guages red from white) with the beep.
if i figure it out and have time to do it, i will post it. or maybe someone else can do it?

Dude, you're not stupid. People who question why haven't thought it through. It's not that much different than a shift light, just "stealth"... Until you need it.

With no mufflers on my GT500 I can't hear the "beep" at 6500 to shift either, but the "SVT" logo in the dash cluster lights up. So I set it to flash at 6200. I can always see it light up from my peripheral vision and shift! Works great.

If you have a Cobb AP...hook it to the VFAD Plug and set it for the RPM you want it to come on at
