B&B mid pipe help
jus got the pipe and we put it in the same day....i searched and i have some of my issues resolved but i need help with the others.
i hade test/race/straight/watever pipes on previous cars and im well aware with the smell and the heat and all that...only thing i have a prob with this particular pipe is it sounds very raspy under half throttle accelerating in 1st and 2nd and slightly in 3rd gear... it isnt much so noticed outside the car as ive heard the car drive by me and ive driven next to to the car to listen to it. when inside the car the sound is almost annoying...at WOT its worse...almost makes me not want to drive hard anymore....is this normal or is there somethin i can do to atleast minimize it...once the car hits operating temperature it does get a little better but its still there. is this normal with rotary engines? never had this problem with other cars, or could it just be the pipe. its a B&B with resonator.
the other problem is the exhaust hanger on the pipe, it seems to be placed incorectly, it rubs against the underside if the car (the long piece that runs front to back where the drive shaft is) and the hanger is bent in a way where it wont really reach the gromet in any way. i thought i may have instaled the pipe wrong but i cant see any other way to do it as all the flanges lined up and are bolted in now, and there seems to be no way to rotate everything...my only sollution seems to be is to cut the hanger, the pipe seems to be installed solidly enough that a hanger might not be needed.
anyone have any pics of installed pipes so i can see if i may have done anything worng, any other advise.
btw the car feels very nice, low end seems to be a little less responsive but the mid and top feels a lot better. after the flywheel and spark plug/ignition change is put in i will dyno to see what everything has done
exhaust flames FTW

Give the pipe some time to *wear in* I guess you could say. I installed my catless midpipe from AP & it after some miles the tones changed a bit.. Reason its also louder inside the car is theres not a bunch of crap surrounding it like the cat on the car. As for the hanger problem, I'm not sure. Mine was a bit awkward, but I just had play with angles & stuff till I got it in there, then bolted it up.

thanx for the info, the pipe is used tho so i figured it would already be worn in, ill drive some more with it and ill see how it settles in. ill play a lil more with the hanger to see if i can fit it in, i tried different ways, i even istalled it in the fromet before bolting it but then the pipe was lke 3 inches off and was hard to put into place and bolt it up....any other suggestions?

Ah, didn't know the pipe was use. Might want to drop under the car & make sure its all tightened up? Check to make sure the gasket from the mid-pipe to the exhaust isn't jacked up, or tweaked slightly. I had to do that on mine also.
As for the exhaust hanger being 3" off.. I'm not sure.. Take the grommet of the chassis & put it on the hanger, then try to get it up there? Only other option I can think of.

This may sound dumb but i had the same hanger problem with mine and I had a small exhaust leak so I took the front loose(where the exhaust manifold meets the mid pipe) and replaced the gasket. With the mid pipe loose i was able to then put the hanger in the rubber grommet, and hook the pipes back together. I hope this helps

it has a resonator, honestly it is a small one, if anything id prefer to add a bigger one but im not tryin to turn this into a big mod ordeal...im going to try the suggestion rival came up with.
this might get me flames but i used the stock gasket donut thing instead of getting a new one. it was in pretty good shape so i decided to reuse it. would changing the gasket tunnel thing (sorry i dont know the name of this piece) help get rid of the raspiness.
sorry but if i cant get that hanger on there then it will be sawed off...i gotta have the car done by work week monday.
thanx for the advice guys i really appreciate it
