Yes, it's the most popular here, but some prefer a full synthetic pre-mix like Amsoil Saber Pro. It's worth noting that neither Idemitsu nor Amsoil recommend their products for our cars--many feel that's just CYA on account of not wanting any liability for catalytic converters. With both products, many recommend also using a cleaner to resist carbon build-up. Some recommend just MMO, while others absolutely detest it. With the most recent reflashes, some say the amount of pre-mix should be cut in half. That's my summary of this 45-page, 1,100 post thread.

I just got one a couple of days ago and according to the manual just use 5w-20. I don't know if any special brand is better for the rotary but I've been plodding around, searching if you will, when I get a moment.
I've been too busy driving.

Cant remember which page but the final summary of the engine and oil weights is pretty interesting.

Use what your owner's manual specifies. Since you're in Trinidad, the weight might not be what the US manual says. Make sure it satisfies the API Service and ILSAC specs - most oils sold to regular drivers do. Brand does not really matter, as long as it's one you've heard of.

Your user manual will become your best friend if you just read it. I have only had my 8 for a few days and i have refered to it a few times already. Oh and all of the people on here are like the bible's assistants in my opinion so a quick search will answer about any question you can come up with.

I use royal purple 5w-30 fully synthetic.. been running on it for almost 30K miles and is running great,,
but my gas mileage cropped by liek almost 2 miles per gallon I was getting around 17 int he city and now im getting 15.9 but thats because i have intake, and the ignition solution and the cobb and they improve gas mileage..
before these i was getting 14 MPG

Well you could use what Mazda—the company that actually designed the engine—recommends in the Owner's Manual. Or you could use what the computer programmers, salesmen, IT guys, electrical engineers and students (some who have graduated high school) recommend here.
Tough call.
