Best oil ? for Salad I will say Extra virgin olive oil.

Rachael Ray calls it "EVOO" all the time. kinda annoying.

For cooking I use Peanut Oil. Dont like Canola(corn) based oil.

Almost any name brand 5W20 dino oil, just like the manual says. Will give you the best performance possible. No magic formulas here.

I'd say try and find a good Vaseline. In fact, a water based lube like KY Jelly is good **** too.

Good thing Mazda simply recommends 5w20, and does not present it as an opinion.

Bkkk...by now you've figured out that you've stepped in it, asking a really frequently asked question that has no definitive answer. Just about everyone here agrees that you should get name brand oil that meets the API and ILSAC spec in the owner's manual. Beyond that...people use from 5w20 through 20w50, and some use 0w40. I suspect some might pull their cars up to the grease gun. All (except grease) are actually within Mazda's specs, depending on ambient conditions. My dealer (in Virginia) puts 5w30 in my car.

Some swear by synthetic, some prefer dino. Mazda recommends against synthetic, but it's not a specification in the owner's manual.

You really need to immerse yourself in the various oil threads and form your own opinion - if the threads don't drive you nuts. You need to read deeply enough to figure out who knows what they're talking about and who's just blowing it out their butt.

I've used Castrol GTX for decades, and (fortuitously) that's what my dealer uses. I recommend Castrol because they sponsor John Force, and if he were not kept busy racing he'd be loose in society.
