No it doesn't, neither does motor oil. If you run racing oil with high zinc/potassium in a rotary with a cat converter and the MOP feeding from the oil pan sump the cat life will be shorter. Low ash helps, but you're running extra oil through. Anyone whoever took off an exhaust manifold or header knows the truth.

No, you're both absolutely right, sorry for the confusion - the 'zinc' isn't in two-stroke.
Side story, our refinery uses TONS of top quality lube oils in the compressors, gearboxes and turbines, and you might think they would just throw the used oil back in the 'crude' tank and reprocess it?
Abso-friggin-lutely not.
It gets collected and sold to a re-processing company, offsite.
The refinery uses mega-millions of dollars worth of platinum/palladium catalysts, so expensive that they don't even buy it, they lease it.
Enough metal compounds in the feedstock will poison the catalyst, and ruin the economics of the whole process, causing an early shutdown/changeout.
So I can see their point about reducing motor oil zinc....

Well, since the other thread is closed.
Does anyone have any opinions on this stuff? Been using it for the last few months, seems a bit pricey but it looked like some of the better oil I could get off amazon.

About 3-4 hours of peering through a 157 page thread a 9 page thread from someone with a blown motor and various other threads need some advice on the best premix combo to use.
I am currently in the middle of doing some overdue maintenance/repairs to my 05 rx8 at 117000+ miles on the original motor(as far as i know im not first owner)
I am trying to currently extend the life of my 8 as long as possible till i get some more cash in hand for either a rebuild or i shall import a 20b cosmos and start gathering parts for a 3 rotor swap which ever i have the cash for(job owes me strike dues/retro pay but could take a while to get it)
Currently looking to do these steps along side of my repairs.
1: BG44k on full tank to shock clean
2:Premix either using a combination of 4oz idemitsu + 2oz fp+ or a combination of 4oz idemitsu + 2oz mmo
Now through all these threads i never found a clear answer on ether mmo was bad or if fp+ is better.
Trying to get a clear concise answer on this without starting another overly long debate.

You were given numerous opinions about what already works. Maybe it's time to close this thread too; no point trying to rehash the same old advise/discussion to people that aren't going to listen.

I guess based on the fact that 8/10 people in that thread used Idemitsu and it was recommended 20 years ago that it's the best stuff to use these days...

That should be really good stuff.
I'm about to run out of discontinued Mobil 2T which is another great low smoke synthetic, so next on list is my stash of pennzoil air cooled 2 stroke which is rated TC (so-so).
I researched ultra light airplanes guys who tested this stuff to be low wear and low deposit.

TC (TCW-2) isn't low smoke or low ash. It's much poorer than buying something like Lucas semi-syn JASO FC/FD or even Echo or Husqvarna 2-stroke at Home Deport which is rated JASO FD.

If you have the money and patience, Idemitsu Premix is really good.
Just a shame that it's hard to get your hands on them. The cheapest way to get Idemitsu Premix for me is from an RX-7 shop in Alberta. Can't find any place in BC that sells them.

In Ultralightnews.com they tested the air cooled type and Marine type along with some no name synthetic 2 stroke. They claimed the air cooled 2 stroke was the best of those.
I'm usually leary of claims, but the wear and piston deposits seem low.
I won't use it long, and will find something better like that Ravenoil.

So after taking my licking, I Googled: Filed Gas Engine oil 2 stroke, a 6-1-2017 18 page pdf of most all 2 stroke oils.
The Pennzoil air cooled 2 stroke is rated FD.
The only Lucas I would use is the synthetic snowmobile FD oil.
What's interesting on this master list is that NO INDEMITSU RATES FD, ONLY FC

I mean, most 2-stroke oils are designed to be burnt cleanly, so I don't think synthetic or mineral matters much.
What kind of certification does this oil have?

Only cos i can get the mineral one for $3 a quart at work being a Fuchs dealer compared to $9 for full synthetic
