Better air flow ?

Anyone with a short ram intake remove the hardware in front of the filter (in the bumper) ? There is the vacuum actuated butterfly valve and a hose that draws air from the right side of the bumper. If that was removed or even extended to the lower part of the bumper would that improve anything ?? Any comments welcome.

THANKS !

- If - that improves the flow (that is dubious), it will also upset the A/F, unless you compensate. That will end up doing who knows what!

If you are going to try to tune the car for more power/better mileage, you have to do it right. Guessing isn't going to help.

I agree with David above, from everything that I've read, Mazda really did their homework with the sequential intake system on the Renesis. It would take some more significant effort (flow analysis vs RPM, remapping of A/F ratios, etc.) to improve on the stock setup.

Of course, I could be wrong........

I already have the K&N Typhoon intake so I've tampered with the stock system.

Has anyone removed the hardware from inside the top of the bumper ?
