So I took my 8 to the mazda dealership to diagnose a 2nd gear grind and they are replacing my trans completely which is the good news but they are also telling my flywheel and clutch disc are scorched and should be replaced. I am going to go see them in person to determine that for myself(note: i am very familiar with cars and how they work..i worked in a shop for 3 years). Now mind you i had my clutch and flywheel replaced in december of last year which was my first mistake because the shop i took it too apparently didint kinow what they were doing and thats why im in the dilemma now. Regardless, my clutch and flywheel are still fresh especially becasue i drive economically 95% of the time(out of the young idiot phase) so im asking if anyone had experience with a burnt flywheel and clutch disc and what they did and their results becasue they car was driving completely normal before i brought it in. it was just 2nd gear above 5k that was grinding other than that everything felt good. Im leaning towards just telling them to put everything in the new trans and be done with it because this isnt the first time that i've gotten advice from a mazda dealership and went with my opinion. My opinions have always been the right way. I just want other experienced technciian too givwe their 2 sense.Thank you for your time. sorry for the length.....

 

The clutch face on that flywheel is a blueish color out of the box.....so I would expect they don't know what they are looking at

You would have to be the worst driver in existence or abusing it...for it to be done in less than 6 months

 

Doesn't the BHR Flywheel have a replacement friction face thingy?
