Big problems, help please.
Okay guys, i have an 04 6 speed with 60k miles on the clock, the last time i drove it, i was missing in higher RPM, and i was ~ an hour from home, so i kept it in 6th, and under 4k rpms, and then about halfway home, it kept missing BAD, it basically sounded like i was running on one rotor, and it went away shortly there after, and didnt happen again till i got almost home, and it started missing very bad about 6 blocks form the house, and then it was fine again when i got it in the driveway. i let it idle for awhile just to make sure, and it seemed fine, next time i went to start the car, it needed gas to keep running, and again, sounded like it was running on one rotor, i turned it off after a few seconds.
i assumed coils plugs etc.. were bad, i changed the coils and plug wires ( what is the proper order for plug wires to the coils? JUST incase i messed it up )
didnt do plugs yet because fluid was out of them, they ship out tomorrow i guess, but the car wont start at all, before or after i switched the coils and wires.
it just sounds like the starter is spinning, and i can hear just a faint compression type pop or burp or whatever you want to call it, but it just spins, DSC light, steering light etc.. all are lit up basically everything.
did i possibly **** up my motor by driving it home when it was missing bad?
what are some other causes for this? i cant take it in for a comp test because im 100% broke. how can i go about trying to diganose this on my own?
I'll put in the new plugs when they get here, and hopfully that might be the problem, but it at least used to start, and run horribly. now it wont even start.

if you can read electrical diagrams this shows the wire colors for each coil pack in order
https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=157
you might also want to make sure the plug wires aren't switched between leading and trailing
starting at the coil pack toward the front of the car working back towards the firewall the order is:
leading front rotor - trailing front rotor - leading rear rotor - trailing rear rotor
on each rotor the lower sparkplug plug is leading and the top spark plug is trailing

thanks, i know i was in a hurry, im trying to figure out wtf is wrong.
my wires are on correctly though at least... so, It's all going to be up to when i replace the sparkplugs then i guess

When the engine turns over does it sound "Even" Does it make a continuous regular "beat" sound? Like 2,2,2,2,2,2 Or does it sound like 2,2,4,2,2,4. Theses are not the sounds it's going to make but This is the rhythm the engine will make.
If sounds like the later it has issues. Internally.

Hmmm.
I haven't thought this one through yet. I can't think why all the dash lights would be on. The rest of your problems sound like either poor spark, and now it is tending to flood.
Let us know what happens after you change your plugs. Also, you might want to find a cheap spark plug wire tester. They should be under $4. They just rest against the outside of the wire and a light inside flickers when electricity is going through the wire. This should tell you if a particular coil is not firing.
Any codes, or a check engine light when it was misfiring?

when i try to start it, it literally just sounds like the starter is spinning, theres a high pitch electric motor type sound. I'll video tape it later, or tomorrow when it isnt snowing.

my first thought is something has happened to the Eshaft position sensor. try the twenty brake stomp reset . see if that helps.
did you recently before this change anything on the car? new wheels?brakes? suspension? were you driving in the snow and run over any deeper bits that you felt hit the underside of the car?

Only thing new was a RB midpipe, but that was over a month ago, car has been running great, i was just driving it in higher revs on the highway when it happened, 6-8k rpms, when i noticed a slight miss, every few miles, so i slowed down, kept it to 5-6k rpm, and it started missing more as soon as i headed on my way home, thats when i kicked it to 6th and started cruising home ( 3.5k-4k rpm ) kinda limping, and it started cutting out, like one of the rotors couldnt make up its mind to work or not, with the CEL blinking when it was missing, or running pooly.
other then the midpipe though, no i havnt changed anything.
20 brake stomps? thats the first ive ever heard of that. I'll give it a try though

uggh---- turn the key to on and pump the brake pedal at least 20 times in 30 seconds. you may think you cant as the pressure builds but do it and keep doing until the oil pressure gauge needle sweeps left to right to let you know you have done it.
that resets the eshaft profile in the PCM memory. try to start it. if it doesnt start do the de-flood procedures.

this is on my personal webspace, so please unless your going to actively diagnose my issue, DO NOT waste my bandwidth please.
heres a video of it turning over

it could very well be flooded, when i tried to start it the day after i had the issues, I only let it idle for like 1-2 minutes, i was afraid to damage the motor letting it idle like that.. so that may very well be my problem then aswell.
( that was almost 2 weeks ago now though )
maybe the new plugs next week will fix it.
i would go pull plugs etc.. but its dark, and COLD and snowing right now, so it'll have to wait till this weekend i think.
thanks for the help, i'll update the thread when i finally get the reset and flooding fixed.

old sparkplugs were pretty bad
the whole ignition is swapped with the new one now, and ive drained my battery twice trying to " de-flood " it
but i can hear compression, so hopfully its just flooded bad lol.

yeah 100% now, car runs 5x better then before the whole ordeal, so i'm definatly happy now!
i assume what happened is. when i started the car the day after the initial problem, i flooded it, not even thinking about it, then i let it sit for like 3 weeks, which compounded the problem.
after 5 hours of charging, recharging, cranking, and being pissed off with a headache, it finally started, and i just got done driving it around for the last hour. lol
there was a hesitation in the revs before this whole thing, that made my shifts shakey, and a few other issues while driving that the swap completely fixed, so im super happy.
thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it!
