Blinking Exclamation Mark?

I just bought a 2005 RX-8 yesterday. Not until I was almost home (2 hour drive) did I realize there was a yellow exclamation mark blinking. By that time, the dealer was closed. A friend told me to check my tire pressure...they are all 30 lbs. How much air should be in the tires? Is that why the light is blinking or could it be something else?

If the light stays on solid, then it means the tire pressure is too low or too high. If it is blinking, then it means there is a malfunction with the TPMS. Mine did this recently as well. Most likely one of the sensors has gone bad and that is why it is blinking. You can leave it as it is and just check your tire pressure regularly or bring it to a dealer and they can find out which ones are bad.

if tire pressure is right, then one or more sensor has gone bad.

tpms has a design life of around 10 yrs or around 100k ?miles. but hey it can be more it can be less.

the tire sticker in the door jamb says 32psi. they don't specify hot or cold, but since air expands when its hot, i like to set it to 32psi cold.

the blinking can be intermittent so set the pressures first, but its likely to be a failing sensor. the good news is that labor is small to put the sensor in. i just had one done and the labor was $30.00. sensor is like $55-70 depending on where you buy
