Both fans at the same time?
Ok, I know when using a Cobb you can make it to where both fans run together and also control at what temp they come on...however is there a way to do this without a Cobb? I have a scangauge ii and it will send codes to the ECU however I do not know how to do this without a Cobb. Can anyone lend some info on this?

Wow...154 bucks for that thing...I am sure there is a way to do this without spending that kind of cash JUST to control your fans. It has to be an ECU setting...I am going to see if there is a way Mazda can tune the ECU to kick them both on at the same time
Thank though sir for your input...its a great idea just trying to spend money wisely on my 8 since two kiddos are who I spend most of it on lol

The Mazsport fan mod did this (activated both fans at once) plus a little more. Raceroots was selling it for a while, but I don't think they are anymore. All it did was activate both fan relays via a separate thermostat in a coolant line.
Get a wiring diagram and you can wire the control line for fan 1 so it turns on both fans (activates both fan 1 and fan 2 relays). If you know what you are doing, it's not hard. If you don't, find somebody selling the Mazsport fan mod. It was $100-150 new, I sold mine for $75 last year.

the flex a lite can be had for much less. Just get the one that has a radiator probe instead of a screw in sender. i think it is around $100. It has many features including temperature on adjustment, soft on, run on, varied speed according to temps etc etc. I am very well pleased with mine. Easy to install also.
The factory set up only has 2 speeds i believe?

Factory has 2 speed. High and low
As far as i remeber the low speed activates at 97 celsius and full/high speed at 101 or 103 celsius.
Dont bother asking dealership to change it for u, cuz they cant. Im willing to bet they dont even know qhat temp its supposed to come on without looking at the fsm.
I like my rb flash ... :-)

Racing Beat flash...tell me more please? What is it...how much?
Also, so you are saying I could take the relay wires for the second fan, cut them, wire them into the wires for the first fan...that way when the fan gets the signal to kick on, it would actually kick on both fans...correct?
I like the mod dannobre linked. Its cheaper and looks easy to install.

You will only make both the fans and the electrical loading cycle more often
but noobs will be noobs, just like how you didn't search or research the topic properly, the cliff you're standing at might drop farther than you realize ...

Also like to know about your experience with "rx8performance.com". Was your order processed quickly?

we all work to learn these 8 issues over time regardless how lame the search system works. the paper bag head guy became seasoned, but there was a time back in the day when there was a rookie amonst us.

exactly, but like I said "noobs will be noobs", so I already knew he was going to ignore me before he replied telling everyone so because I walked that path many times before
some simple wiring harness mods so they both trigger at the same time is a lot cheaper than buying some overpriced controller or wasting your money on a Racing Beat flash (wtf would you do that than a Cobb?), but noobs will be noobs

Tonedef,
I did order the mod and it works great. Took me about 15-20 minutes to install it and it works great! I have not seen temps get to 200 yet and have ran it hard. The real test will be the Texas 8 run we do the last week of April down around San Antonio. RX8Performace was easy to deal with to get the product and even called me when the post office was trying to tell him the address I gave was invalid. Most companies I have dealt with have just held the part until I called in asking where it was. After I told him the address was good, he shipped it and then even followed up with a phone call asking how the install went and if the product was working as I had hoped. I would definitely do business with him again.

Team,
I appreciate your input. If me buying a product to make it easier for me to achieve what I need to achieve and it helps a vendor out by providing business...then by all means I can handle being called a noob. Thanks!
