brake squeal

I took my 8 in yesterday to the dealer and got my drivers side tail light replaced (cracked w/ water in it) and my temp **** fixed. I told them about my brakes but they said that that's just the way the 8's brakes are. Oh my gosh I did not know that !!!!

Anyway, time for a DIY. Would changing the pads take away the squeal (*totally*)? And if so, what kind of brake pads would you all suggest?

There is a service bulletin on the squealing brakes. Print out a copy and present it to the joker who made that stupid statement. Go here for the service bulletins:

I have an 05.
At 7k miles the squeal started. I cleaned everything 2 times.. no help.
The dealer told me I already have the new pads and there was nothing they could/would do.
The squeal got so bad, I actually stopped driving my car.
Yes, it was THAT bad. Sounded like the warning tabs were hitting, but they were not.

I had to do something, so I replaced the rotors (Rotora slotted/drilled), EBC redstuff pads (awesome) and Goodridge lines.

Now: zero noise and awesome performance.
... and the rotors look sweet

I just got back from the dealer and they replaced my brakes awhile back and they wont do it again. The tech at my dealership told me to go buy some aftermarket softer brakes, which I think I am going to go do.

It's the recall. Unless you are absurdly hard on your brakes they should last more than 11k.

Mine just started doing it around 4k miles...now that summer's coming and my windows are open so I can hear it

I kind of have a thing about taking my car back to some guys that will just lie to your face straight up. Oh yeah, it was at Tysons Corner, VA (for those of you in the N. VA area). Might have to go aftermarket or take it to another dealer.

But yeah, it's loud, embarrassing, and annoying.

I had mine replaced with the TSB for free a few weeks ago. The best part was I took the print out in and there was no questions asked, they did it for free.

off topic:
Seems like my dealership always wants to wash my car after warranty work. Problem is they seem to use very dirty hard water so I decline the "free wash" now.

That's funny, I have been having the exact same problem with my brakes. I took my car into the dealership 2 days ago, and they told me that my brakes were fine. Will they fix it for free if I take that document into them?
