Buyers Remorse Laws

Buyers Remorse Laws
I purchased a RX8 on satuday 10/8/05 and I am not happy with the vehicle. It average 14mpg on the first tank among other things. I tried to return it to the dealer and they refused to take it. I was wondering if there is any kind of buyers remorse laws in NJ governing the return of sales within a certain time period of purchase?
Thanks,
Adam

Adam,
Was this an impulse buy? Have you done much research on this vehicle?
I just ask because mpg is a topic that has been covered MANY times (edmunds, motor trend, car & driver, etc)
What are you not happy with?
As for the 'buyers remorse' laws, wish I could help you out but in California, it clearly states that there is "NO cooling off period". Meaning if you sign on the dotted line, it's all yours...

at least he didnt say he wanted to return it cause it wasnt fast enough, or didnt have enough tq....
sure you cant find out about MPG, but any reading of reviews of the cars would cover the MPG issue

Adam,
The mpg will increase a little when the car gets some miles on it (I am assuming you bought it new). If it is new you need to read the manual to see how to drive the car for the break in period. My car took about 1500 miles before I saw an improvement in mpg. I also have to ask were you redlining the car alot? Or driving with the rpm's way up there? If so these will have a very negative effect on your milage.

If this isn't a troll post... What, exactly, aren't you happy with? The interior quality? The appearance? And did you really expect a $30,000 SPORTS car to be frugal on fuel? (and how did you just suddenly spend that much cash on a car you apparently know nothing about?)

At least this is a better post than that guy who bought a g35 as an impulse, and it ended up messing up his spine because he was overweight and couldnt fit in the seats and the dealership wouldnt take it back and he ended up losing his job or something and runing his credit because he couldnt make his payments, and his wife was really mad at him, and he couldnt afford surgery to get his back fixed . Anyone have a link to that?

Didn't the bold print of "18mpg City" on the window sticker provide a clue as to the mpg of this vehicle? Was he somehow expecting 36mpg despite the EPA number? Did the salesman NOT suggest a test drive? As to "buyer's remorse", it's NEW JERSEY for god's sake!

I've owned a WRX STI, RX-7 turbo, and many others sports cars. My most recent car was a VW Jetta 1.8t with many upgrades, it ran high 13s in the quarter mile and would get 32+ mpg even though the EPA estimates were less than that. every car I've owned I managed to get the high or higher of the EPA MPG estimates. I was expecting the same with the RX8, I haven't gone over 4,000 rpms since I bought it and it now has about 500 miles on it. I understand the process of breaking a car in and have done it a couple times before.
On the test drive I drove the car for about 20 minutes and was happy with it, but after taking much longer drives I find my legs falling asleep. I've tried a couple different positions seating positions and it still happens. I guess this car just isn't meant for me; I'll probably sell it privately and take the loss.
Thanks for your input,
