Buying an '06 RX8 Today
So It's been a very long time since i owned a RX8. The last one I owned was in 2006 and I had it until 2009. It was a phantom blue and I loved it. Today i'm going to buy a 06 phantom blue again with 60k miles on it. I'm Sure things have changed in the 11 years i've been away from this car. I have owned other rotaries since then, but I wanted to know what oil everyone is using these days. I used to use Royal Purple back then, but not sure now. Also I wanted to know if there were any maintenance improvements that people have done that I might have not known about back then. Any extra tips would be lovely, thanks everyone.

Welcome back to the addiction. Have you had it compression tested? If not, you risk buying RX-8-shaped problems today.
There isn't a single answer for oil. RP is probably fine, but have a read through the oil discussion threads and used oil analyses threads. RP hasn't really figured prominently in there. It's expensive for what it is, and you'll want to stay on top of change intervals, so it doesn't really make financial sense. Perhaps someone has tested RP at longer change intervals with actual analyses. It also depends if you're running stock oil injection or a 2-stroke adapter. From my own experience (with UOA's and that adapter), I run LiquiMoly at 7000km intervals and the oil is still in good shape at the end of that.
As far as other maintenance items, rx8help.com has everything you need pre- and post-purchase.

Thanks for the info. This thing has maintenance records every 3k miles, it's actually insane or else I wouldn't have went to buy it. 60k miles for $6k one owner and all proof of every single oil change, every single test from pcm to compression.
I've owned two rx7 prior and just sold a turbo 2.
