Can anyone here run a VIN for me and tell me the history on an engine? I have an 04, MT, with over 50K miles on it. It had 48K on it when I picked it up about a year ago. I'm curious whether it has had a new engine at some point or if it is still on the original. If there is another way to tell, feel free to fill me in.

It runs great, plenty of power, and the under-hood has some scuffs like something major went on under there at some point. It would be nice to know.

 

You should be able to give the VIN to your local dealer and get that kind of information at no charge.

 

You can also tell if there is a blue tag on the engine. Take a look at my pic. there is a blue tag on the engine. if your engine has one. it has been replaced.

 

hmm thats interesting..what does the tag say? is it just numbers?
