can I put a flowmaster 80 series on my 8??
I used to have a pontiac Grand prix GTP, all the aftermarket options for exhausts were hoky and left a taste of ricer boy weed wacker noise... so I went and had a 80 series installed, along with a 2.5 inch piping set up (less bending, no resonators)
I must say that my old GTP sounded like a dream, it sounded like a nasty demon of a big block v8, and it was only a 3800 V6 with a supercharger...
well here is my question:
can I go ahead and do the same to my rx8?
I say this because the set up seems to be the same, there is one exhaust pipe coming from the engine, going to this box at the back which then has 2 exits that go into 2 rear tips... well I know it is a different animal and all but wouldn't the rx8 sound a lot meaner with a flowmaster in this config?
just want to know of opinions and if anyone has done this so far, I kinda like making my own stuff too, reason why I am thinking of this.
oh yeah and nice forums there guys, my rx8 is silver (dirt is less easy to see) hehehe.... :D

thanx guys, just talked to the muffler shop, will be making my own system for the 8, completely mandrel bent, no crimpage, stainless, I picked the piping myself, kinda light but very nice, I have my own welding rig so I can weld it all myself, will be using a single entry magnaflow 80 series (dual exit) to come out to both ends on these tips, well they are similar but are like 3 inch diameter, so they are just about as big as the greddy ones http://www.mufflermall.com/images/me...421%5B1%5D.jpg
I have ordered the protectors for the back plastic from mazda, my system will have no resonators and I am installing a magnaflow hi flow cat, I will take a video from it and post it as soon as it's done, looking at maybe a month as I have current finance woes, new house and all.
I am not keen on the intakes for this car yet, I may do a custom one also, anyways, great site, and if any of you wants to get rid of a turbo kit for cheap holler at me I would gladly take it off your hands

Give it a try, and let us know how it sounds, and if you feel more punch. I've heard that rotaries walk a fine line of sounding pretty good and downright broken with aftermarket exhausts so I'm interested to hear your results.
Oh, and don't give much creedence to the "search" monkeys.

you can definetly do it if everything fits under the car, but not sure how the sound would be, because of the way the rotary works, the exhaust pulses are differnt than a piston engine so it will make a differnt sound even with the same exhaust.
Id put the car up on a lift and weld/clamp up a simple mock version, using some piping and a muffler to get an idea of the sound.
