Can't find my ESS

I'm trying to clean my ESS after reading in several places on here that it helps with rough idling. Every thread with a DIY on the forums I have found either has vauge pictures (at least for me I'm not very good mechanically.) https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...3&d=1287708696 or manual links that dont work anymore. I can jack my car up but havent been able to see it from the bottom of the car and I'm not totally sure how to move the air box to get to it from the top.

I have a 2005 shinka AT (don't know if the AT is my whole problem and it's in a different spot.)

If anyone could help out that would be awesome!

I found it in the manual but I'm still pretty confused as to its location http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdar...018221W02.html Is there anyway you could describe what I'm looking at in that image? sorry to be so useless!

Red face

I think the service manual gives you a really good illustration on its location:

Here is another pic:

I find it easier to remove the sensor from under the car.
The bolt it facing you and its easy to reach down there.
But you needed to know what you're looking for first.

Thanks so much for the detailed response. I think I was not looking far enough back. I'll give it another shot tonight!
