Car Died On Me Fuel Pump/Assembly HELP!
So long story short i was driving home from work last friday, car was loosing power when i accelerated. the more i drove the worse it got. So i pulled over on 95 to the exit and boom it died on me, tried to start it ran for like 5 seconds and walla dead on me again.
Got the car towed to my mechanics shop.
He told me i need a new fuel pump!
So i order Just the fuel pump not the assembly like they had on ebay.
He put it in yesterday.
I get there today and he tells me its not ur fuel pump the old one was fine. He told me what i need is the housing/assembly and i need the fuel line. Those are the pieces that are damaged and what caused your car to die on you. So he replaced the fuel pump anyways, what i found good about it, is that now my car turns on instantly and it doesnt rev for a couple seconds like it did before. he told me that the fuel injectors were not holding the pressure or w.e im not a mechanic so its all kinda french to me. I appreciate it if you guys can save me like you have in the past... thank you.
P.S He also told me to never let me gas tank go below a quarter tank so i have been doing that. Thank you guys for all the help!

I'm not sure what the hell your question really is?
He is right about the 1/4 tank because fuel is what cools the pump.
If you were running up and down 95 at 80-85mph with little gas, then it could very well happen.
Does he still have the car or do you?
Sounds like you have it and that it's running fine................yes or no?
He replaced the fuel pump and now says you need "housing/assembly and i need the fuel line"?

Sorry for that guys should have been more elaborite...
My question is is this common. can i purhcase just the assembly/housing online or is that only a dealer part? because on google when i search for the piece, it comes up but i dont know if it comes with a fuel pump with the assembly.
Like i said i already purchased a new fuel pump.
OO and my car has 114,000 miles and my engine has like 65-70000 miles its my third engine due to recalls. -__-
But yea i would appreaciate all the info on my situation guys. thank you

Yeah what a bullshit design ... this is a pet peeve of mine. It just seems like such a crappy solution.
Is every fuel pump in modern cars like this?
Or from blackhaloracing.com
Edit:
Problem could be anything by the OP's details ...... I would start with all the usual suspects. Maf, ESS, air filter, plugs, coils, cat, dance around the fire naked under the full moon (Ooooh wait that's something else)
