You don't pump the pedal, you hold it down while starting.
This keeps it from injecting more fuel into the chambers.
Don't do it for more than 10 seconds.
Some have had better luck removing the spark plugs and then starting it with the gas pedal held down (with a rag nearby to catch the fluids).
There are other methods to help "de-flood" so you might want to search for that if this doesn't turn it over.

Please update your profile so we know where you live.
Your local club members should be able to help you out.
Are you getting any spark at all?
Have you ever changed the plugs?
Its time for a tune up at 30k per manual, so don't say **** the car when you don't follow maintence guide lines.
We are here to help.
Edit: So your first post says you bought a 2006 now you say its a 2005. So what is it? Post a picture of your car.
Here's a link to a shop manual for future reference.

We understand your frustration. Any car can be flooded, but the rotary is a bit more susceptable.
Taking out the plugs and removing the fuel pump fuse allows you to crank the engine, to drive out excess fuel/vapor, without introducing more fuel which would be self-defeating.
Once you're assured you're 'dry', reinstall the plugs and fuse and attempt start.
Alternatively, if you have a manual transmission, you can have someone push/pull you with ignition on and drop it into gear to start.
btw: if you have an '05 built before circa January '05 you may need the upgraded starter and battery (if you have a Panasonic battery you probably have the older starter; if an Interstate probably the newer).

Question of the century. How do you start your car every time you go to drive it? Do you just start and go? Or do you warm it up every single time you start it? If not, enjoy the flood and there are alot of stickes and tips and tricks. When all else fails call for a tow to local shop. Don't hate the car just for not understanding it. A bit more to it then an old 350.
Oh and do you drive it like you stole it? If not compression check time. No worries though you are still under warranty, but read read read. This is not a push button and go car.

Better to get back to basics. Spark, Fuel, Air, Compression. Same as any other car.
