car won't start ?
So yesterday i finished changing my clutch/flywheel and got everything all together. It started just fine on teh stands when we were checking to make sure everythign engaged and ran correctly... then today we bled the clutch and lowered it to the ground and it wouldn't start!
First thought was that maybe i flooded the engine with the running it for ~2 minutes and turning it off (even though it had been a day since i had it on)so i followed the directions for that in the manual but no avail. It is churning so thought maybe the battery(the interior lights do flicker a little when trying to start), but still wouldnt' start after hooking it to some jumper cables and another car. LIfted it back up and checked teh starter, it is connected and everything.....
Any ideas on where i might look next?

First you better have a back up battery of some sort.
1.) Pull the plugs and dry them real good!
2.) Pull the fuel pump relay(under the hood fuse box).
3.) Crank the car in short bursts of about 5 seconds with the plugs and relay out. Give about 10-15 seconds to let the starter cool off and then repeat the 5 second crank. Do this until you see no smoke coming out of the plug holes or and no gas/oil seeping out either. Best to have two people here.
4.) Take a break, have a drink, smoke, jumping jacks....whatever.
The point here is.............don't be in a hurry. Get the plugs dry and get the fuel out of the engine.
5.) Repeat #3 once or twice more times just to be sure.
6.) Re-install and hookup the plugs but not fuel relay.
7.) Have someone at the front of the car with relay in hand while other person cranks the car.
As soon as the car catches and starts, then plug the relay back in and don't let the car stall.
If it starts, go to number nine.
8.) If it doesn't work, go back to number one and start over!
It can take up to two or three times through this(in my experience) to get it started.
If it still doesn't start after 3 times through this, then come back here and we will have to take the next step. Including.......If it's a
manual, you can push/pull start it by getting in 2nd at about 18mph and popping the clutch.
9.) Go for a spirited drive........but only after warm-up.
10.) Rejoice!
This procedure has worked for many, so let me know if you get it going.
I don't want to keep telling people this if it's not working for them, but it work for someone in Virginia late yesterday.

yea i saw your thread when i got home that had this detailed, it is on the list of stuff to check. Im still unsure of why disconnecting the fuel pump would do anything different than "choking" it by holding in the gas pedal, although it does save teh effort of holding it in all that time.
