carbon removalhelp

Hi all,

I would be grateful if people could give me some advice on cleaning the internals of my 2004 RX8, i am wanting to clean if possible any carbon that may have built up anywhere inside the engine, i am after any ideas of the cheapest, easiest and quickest fixes anyone has done effectively in the past.

Thanks
Dan.

That seems a bit like a loaded question but putting aside the whole break down of the engine. Parts cleaner. Thats what it is here for. A brass wire brush some elbow grease and parts cleaner.

Another option is the zoom-zoom cleaner or seafoam job. If you don't plan to take it apart. But if your going to do that at least remove and clean the throttle body along with the SSV. Some people believe in cleaning the MAF but I think thats a crock of... I would just replace it with a rebuilt if its acting up.

I have a feeling that if he's asking about how to get carbon out, he's not taking the car apart.

With that said, I just used Seafoam myself. Got tooooons of smoke out the tail, so it definitely works. Pretty easy process too. I pretty much used this how to, without the two stroke oil... https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/seafoam-newbee-186885/
