Carputer
I have an '05 Shinka which has the cd changer, bose stereo and sirius. i would want to put a carpc in if i could use the OEM hood (motor and all), which the shinka doesn't have.
Those that have installed carpc's in their cars, what factory options did you have when you installed yours? would i be able to buy the hood assembly and install it and have it work just like if it were stock from the factory? will there be clearance issues with my factory installed options that would keep me from being able to install the motor assembly? Thanks

you can install the screen there, but not the carputer. That will have to go somewhere else. I am currently struggling to find a place to stuff my carputer- it's just a modified HP e-pc that measures 11 1/2" by 10" by 4" tall, so it doesn't fit under the seat or in the glovebox. I'm gonna have to get creative.......

i'd just through the pc in the trunk (which would give me an excuse to install my 13W7...hehe) but i was just wondering if the motor assembly would fit or if something is there that would block it. i wouldn't have thought twice about it if the shinka could come with the nav, but since its not even an option it made me think

I thought about putting my carputer in the trunk, but then after starting the car I'd have to get out and push the "on" button on the PC everytime- kind of annoying. Not to mention I need a couple more yards of wire to run everything back there. I could always install a remote "on" switch for the computer, but that takes more work. Plus, I want it more or less hidden from sight. Still searchin for a spot

took the words right out of my mouth RR
ok, so basically what i found out is, the P.I.E. adapter that so many have used to integrate their steering wheel controls into the system, requires a plug into the cd changer port on the HU. I think thats right...right?
Can anyone more knowledgeable shine some light on this?
peripherals as in dvd-rom? i could either:
a) get an compact external and mount it in the arm rest like the factory nav
or
b) just suck it up and go to the trunk and put in a cd/dvd
i much rather like a) and the little extra work involved won't bother me. while i'm at it i could also mount a usb hub in there and everything i need will be right next to me. in fact, i think i'll be going this route
