Exclamation Cat Removal? with AEM Air Intake+Borla Exhaust

Hi everyone.. Greetings from Istanbul,Turkey

I have a 2006 Mazda RX8 and I am planning on removing cat since inside of my car feels like being in a turkish hamam.. I just recently replaced all engine parts ordered from atkinsonrotary,I am still in break-in period which I am having a hard time to start my car so I have to inject oil from the top to start the engine but car runs like hell but engine runs rich fuel and catalytic converter is getting really really hot.I don't believe it's something to do with cat itself but I just want to remove that damn thing.. My question would be; since I don't live in states I have no such a federal law problem or getting caught by cop but I was wondering Am I gonna get any improvement on reducing engine temperature.. I am not sure if anyone tried that before but how would be the sound with AEM Air intake + Borla Exhaust? Have anyone tried that set up before with no CAT? Any suggestions and Any comments?? have a great weekend folks..

Not having any emissions control to worry about, I 100% recommend removing the cat and going with a midpipe. You will free up power in addition to keeping the heat from piling up near the engine. All-around benefit.

The sound is going to be personal taste, and what you like the best. Each midpipe can change the tone, pitch, wail, rasp, and drone of the exhaust, just like the cat-back and header can. The best build quality and most durable midpipe out there is the BHR midpipe.

Only the dual resonated AgencyPower and the BHR midpipes use resonators instead of packing. All other midpipes use packing to muffle the sound. The packing could be steel wool, fiberglass, or other materials. However, this packing can never hold up to the exhaust heat of the rotary, and it melts/blows out within a few thousand miles, and all you have is an expensive straight pipe that is really raspy.

The Agency Power dual resonated pipe has it's own tone added, but doesn't do much to quiet the rotary noise, and it both rasps and drones.

The BHR pipe uses a single resonator designed for the rotary, and it not only doesn't rasp, doesn't drone, is built to survive the end of the world, but it also retains the same tone provided by the catback and/or header. It slightly increases the volume, but the tone and pitch don't change. So, this means if you like the sound of a particular cat-back attached to the stock cat, then going with the BHR midpipe means you get the same sound, just a bit louder.

The BHR midpipe is what is on my car, and it's perfect.

No, still the stock cat-back, but Borla is currently the top of my list. Until BHR gets around to releasing theirs anyway. My OEM cat is leaning against my water heater, upon the time i need to smog

Building a custom pipe will likely change the tone of the Borla. Possibly to something you don't enjoy. The BHR one won't do that.

Just something to keep in mind when you make your decision.

I built a custom made midpipe with my old 8. I have a Borla Exhaust on it.. I had a DR midpipe using 2 Magnaflow resnators. It sounded great! nice and deep and very little drone.
