I could get this from the RX8 service manual concerning the MAF: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdar...013215W02.html

By the way, I am getting 4.5g/s at idle using my scangauge... The car vibrates a bit at idle but power is there. The vibration is probably caused by my engine mounts but I'm not 100% sure. I saw a readout of 212g/s near redline the other day and constantly get over 200 (the reading isn't very fast to refresh so sometimes it's hard to get the refresh before shifting).

Could the low idle MAF reading be caused by gunk around the throttle body? Mazda says normal idling g/s is 3.8 to 4.7 but you guys are all getting 6g/s ?

I threw this code last night driving home in the rain. Got home and pulled the MAF and it was wet with water. Just so you know, I have the AEM installed without the fine black filter sock. Figured the sock must be put on to help, so I cleared the code, placed the sock on, cleaned the MAF. Went to work this AM and threw the code again. This time it was not raining.

So, my question is, how do you guys with the AEM keep this from sucking up water?

^^^ +1. This happened to me today twice. Every time it happens as soon as I get to 6K. And yes it was raining today, anyone have any ideas? I am pretty much positive its the AEM CAI because ive checked my MAF sensor, cleaned it, check how much air im getting at idle and higher rpms, plus I have a vented hood but ive checked everything, everything looks fine. Anyone tried to fix the problem by buying a new AEM filter and Water sock? Im not sure what to do at this moment, because if I cant drive my car in the rain im just going to buy a completely new intake because this is ridiculous... anyone?

EDIT: Okay so ive found all the items I could buy if I want to try and fix the problem but Im not even sure replacing the Filter , wet sock and getting cleaner will even help, but these are the part numbers incase anyone else has this problem and wants to try what I might.

I had this happened to me 2 years ago. I also run the AEM. Mazda ended up replacing my ecu under warranty. I've had no problems since then.

I have had this happen to me before and also have the AEM CAI. I figured it was from sucking up a little water because when it happened it was raining pretty hard outside.

I agree. They tested everything, replaced the MAF and still got the code so they replaced the ecu.
