Change Coils??

Change Coils??
Iv done some reading on ignition coils on this site and found out that the stock 8 engine coils "burn out, weaken" or something like that around 30,000 miles. I bout my 04 8 used with 50,000 miles on it and 3,000 miles later it runs great! However, Im not sure if i need new coils (no record of coil change) or not and i really want to catch it before it does to much damage and causes misfires. What would be the best way to catch this problem early? Any input would help.

I swapped coils at 80K in my '06 just because. Wires and plugs too. Seen ZERO difference as my 8 trails my son's S2000 by the exact same amount on the on-ramps. 
I know others have experienced coil issues. Not me. I'd leave it alone until....you know what I'm saying.

If you ever plan on tracking the car, or just plan on keeping it for much longer, I would go ahead and save up for the BHR coil kit. You'll never have to worry about them again and they are a bit more efficient than stock coils.
Usually you can drive another known-good RX-8 and immediately know if there is something lacking in power, start-up strength, etc. But if maintenance records are spotty and you're second guessing the maintenance, even fresh OEM coils and plugs certainly won't hurt. I would consider it preventative maintenance if nothing else.

Thanks for the input. I really have had no loss in power so Im going hold off awhile to save up of BHR ignition kit because I have heard nothing but good things. And ShottsCruisers take your son to the curviest road you can find and keep the revs high. You will smoke your son. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line it takes skill and a great car (RX-8) to drive fast on curves.
