Check Engine Light - What?
Alright guys, I've had my RP High-Flow Cat and Greddy exhaust system on for about 1-2 months now and no CEL has come on, so I was thinking, everything is fine since Nemesis8, who also has this hi-flow cat pipe, never received any problems either.
Anyways, about a week ago, I was on the freeway just cruising and I downshift into 3rd in order to gain some speed on a straight away, when I look down I see my CEL blinking and then holding solid, and then blinking again, and then it just disappears.
Then today, I'm crusing again and I drop it into 3rd again and it does the same thing except this time, the CEL doesn't go away and it's stayed on now for about 5 hours now since it came on.
I got my first oil change yesterday, but I wouldn't think it would matter because this happened the week before. I've never had a problem with my hi-flow cat/exhaust and I don't understand why my CEL is on. I checked my oil and it's fine, checked the temp of the engine while driving and it never went over the usual little below 1/2 marker.
Any thoughts?

Nope, car is totally shut off and I am out of my car when pumping the gas. I opened the gas lid, took the gas cap off, and then put it back on again, closed the gas lid and took it out for a ride and the CEL was still on.

willing to bet it's a misfire code, it will flash like that under certain transient conditions and then lock in solid if it sees it occur within so many cycles or something like that, I'm sure one of the forum Tech's can explain it more accurately, that's just off the top of my head

How do I go about fixing this? Do I need to bring it into the dealership? Is this a major problem or is it safe to drive? If I do bring it into the dealership, will I need to take my hi-flow cat pipe off or will it be fine
