Click noise after start
Hello.
I've noticed a wierd click noise everytime I start driving. This only happenes when I turn the engine on and start driving in 1st gear for the first time after starting the engine. Afterwards, I dont hear anything.
The sound comes from somewhere around the left side of the front part of the car.
Is this normal? What should I do?

Mine also do the same since about 2 weeks. I don't know what it is, but you are not alone.
It also have bad idle (like if it want to stall but didn't stall). It happens at red lights about once a week, usually after hard acceleration.
Is your's also have idle issue?
Everyone, let us know if someone know about these problems.

Zoom Zoom....
in June, OldRotor found some dealer training videos. They should be a 'must view' for all new RX-8 owners.

As far as your specific question, diagnosing a 'click' over teh Interwebs is not really gonna work......
Some thinks to think about:
1. The ABS system does a check as you roll away just after starting. I'd describe it as a click from the back wheels, but it is noticeable (and normal).
2. There are several sensors (in the intake, etc.) that exercise automatically (although usually after engine shut-off).
3. You don't say whether your car is new, or just new to you; auto or manual; etc.; etc. That info may be very helpful to other readers of this thread.
4. Normal (as in all cars) car problems could include wheel bearings, loose wheels; loose caliper bolts or clips, loose brake duct/dust shields, etc. Note that there was a TSB some time ago recommending increasing the torque on the wheel studs to 108 ft/lbs. Note THIS THREAD.
5. Where are you located? Most areas have clubs. If possible, I'd recommend that you go to a meet and have several other RX-8 owners listen for you.
6. Read the stickies, and search.... Most problems have been discussed many times.
Good luck.

Sorry. As you can see, I am a newbie here ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I will try to answer your questionsL
1. Its definately a click from the front left wheel.
2. -
3. The car is new to me. Its manual 2007 Mazda (21 000 miles). Its Ground Touring Tirm.
4. It only happens at the "first drive," while the engine is cold. If I drive, then turn it off and start it again I dont hear that sound. It happens everytime, when I start the car and it has not been driven in the previous several hours.
5. Seattle, WA
6. I've searched, but havent found anything helpful.
I am still looking for some advise.
Thanks,
Gjorgji.
