Clicking/popping noise from clutch?
Hey guys,
I've got a question that's been occupying my mind these days, hopefully I can get some help with it... Whenever I put my car into 1st gear and ease up off the clutch, right at the matching point when you feel the engine and the trans sync speeds and just before you can let go of the pedal, I hear this click noise which seems like something has popped/clicked into place. It doesn't seem to come from the pedal, it seems to sound from the engine/clutch/trans area deeper into the car behind the radio (when looking forward from the driver's seat). This is more noticeable the first time fully engaging in 1st after turning on the car from an overnight or being off for a little while. Throughout the day while driving I don't hear this noise as I engage into 1st quicker and let up off of everything faster, but if I do happen to be in a parking lot and very slowly get moving into 1st I can hear it although it is more faint. Anyway, I've had this since around the time I purchased it, which was at the beginning of this year (Used '05 w/ 17.5k miles when purchased). Is this nothing to worry about or should I have it checked at the dealership? So far besides this noise, I haven't had any problems with the car, everything works great... I've searched around the forum but couldn't find anything that satisfies this question directly...Thanks a lot in advance for your help. This site is insanely helpful and awesome, keep up the great work!

Similar problem
I have been having some of the same issues. My clutch pedal started squeaking a little but, I thought a little silicon would fix it. Now I have a popping sound when I let the clutch out. I guess the next stop the shop unless there is an easy fix.

Yeah my clutch was squeaking, so a few months ago I took it in and they lubed up the pedal and I even think the cylinder. The squeak is gone but the pop still continues since then. Also, the pedal has become extremely light to push in...wondering if this is a bad thing...

your clutch pedals are about to break.
im not even joking. its a design flaw. the first symptom is a squeaky clutch pedal.

or PM charles r. hill for his version.
