Cobb AP vs OMP solution...

I tried searching but maybe since english is not my first language I'm unable to pinpoint the right words for this.

I am debating on getting an OMP and or a Coob AP for my 04.

I remember reading that the Cobb AP will make the OEM oil injection system send more oil to the motor.

The OMP will use an external oil source.

My 8 being a week-end driver only, it sees oil changes more regularly then average but gets driven hard when I drive it(Solo2 and Lappping).

I see the benefit of the OMP about using 2-strokes oil but I also see the trouble free solution of the Cobb AP sending more oil to start with.

If you had to choose one or the other, what would you do and why? I cant make up my mind and dont know enough yet about rotaries other then the oil issue is something I have to look into.

Thanks.

OMP ? You mean the Sohn Adapter.

the 2 are completely different things.

one is software, the other is hardware.

Sohn Adapter will stop feeding 4 cycle motor "dirty" oil.

Cobb AP can control(with the right calibration) the OMP rate.

just use 2 stroke premix in the gas... cheaper then either and will protect better

The Cobb of course does allot more than just monitor/meter the stock apex seal oil lube system. The OMP is a nice way to segregate seal lube oil from the main oil system.

But as you change your oil regularly/frequently, you may want to consider just adding pre-mix (essentially 2-cycle oil) to your gas every fillup. Far cheaper than either the Cobb or OMP.
Many of us use Idemitsu pre-mix.

The Cobb is very nice, but not worth it just for increased oil metering. Also, the latest Mazda flash already increases the stock oil metering.

Very good question the Sohn OMP adapter is the way to be safe.
However, there are alot of benefits with the Cobb AP.

I would vote for the Cobb because of the extra benefits.

if the question is, "I'm only getting one or the other, which should I get?"

Cobb AP, hands down.
