If you're thinking to Premix this is a great recipe:

2 oz Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube

2 oz Castrol 2 Cycle Premix Oil

2 oz Lucas Octane Booster

Make sure you add each time you fill your gas tank. In cases where you just simply go 1/2 a tank or just add 1/4 don't bother adding, only when you fill the tank, but be precise....

Just a suggestion on your new engine ...

Well it's lunch time, nycgps' motor and subframe are now back in there car after about 3-3.5 hours of swapping parts and reinstallation. When i return to work I basically have to bolt up ppf, dshaft, exhaust, coolant hoses, oil cooler connections, PCM/Batt/Ground wires, fill fluids, and test drive. Should be finished with another hour or so of actual work.

Updated images already uploaded to the album:
nycgps' motor swap

added an additional 25 or so images, a few are of the other cars motor that i threw in randomly lol.

Everything has gone swimmingly at this point, other then the intake gasket taking a big chunk out of my thumb, so hopefully that streak continues Lots of carbon buildup visible right in the intake ports on the motor, this motor has been decarbed a few times so you can imagine how it must have looked at one point.

sorry for not responding to other posts yet, running other errands on my lunch

kevin.

Notice the shiny water pump on the old motor....

but yea new motor has new oil pan, just about new everything. we also replace the thermostat, all gaskets/crush washer, and when i do rotaries i decarb the lower intake manifold to get all the nooks and crannies clean while i disassemble the rest of the block. I also generally attach all new harness fasteners, but we just installed your engine harness not too long ago so you didn't get that service since they were already new .

BTW your clutch has plenty of life left.

in random info the auto's motor next to your car is the first from VA that i've had an issue with, heater hose metal line on spark plug side was split around the "bulge", what a bitch to knock out and reinstall the old motor's tube. Other then that these VA motors look a lot better...and my thumb is killing me.

edit: oh and your new motor comes with the updated front cover with better protected e-shaft sensor.

Ahh, I just figure out another thing.

Do you guys do any compression test on the motor before returning them to customer ?

Im thinking I might wanna do it, just to see what kind of numbers its pulling.

1 hour labor charge is the only drawback I can think of ...

That would be a good idea to get a new baseline so you can track it over time. 1 hour labor is worth it inmho to know where you're starting from with a new engine.

Well, Have you seriously considered another 8 ? I mean the deals are pretty darn good right now.

You can probably get a 2008 rx-8 with 5 K under invoice and special APR from Mazda. Or maybe 1-2 K under invoice for R3 or something.

I just did a Search, there is six 2008 GT 6 sp RX-8 left within the 200 miles radius. Wayne Has one, in stormy Blue, with Navi and Rear Wing Spoiler. They had a sale last month for almost 9 K below MSRP (something like 4-5 K under invoice). The sales was gone I thought the car was sold, guess not. You can probably get it for more than 7K under invoice.

Nah, I absolutely LOVE the RX8.. but life is too short.. I enjoyed it.. so time to move on.

As I have been saying I really think things couldn't have worked out better.

In 2-3 months I will be buying my next car, cash. No loans.

And yes you were right.. it will probably be an S2000.
