Confused on ECU upgrades.
I had been doing a lot of reading around here on ECU upgrades. I'm not sure which way to go either. I know there is the CanZoomer, Interceptor EMS, the Unichip and Megasquirt. On the Megasquirt I can't find a solid description on what it is. From what I gather is that the CarZoomer is pretty much a Greddy Emanage and I think I would go this route if it is worth it. But I Also heard that the Greddy Emanage don't work very well on the car either. Then there is the Interceptor, which is probably the best way to go but for FI application. I'm not sure if I'm going to go FI or the N/A route. but a little explanation and recommendation (from the people that have them specially for a long time) would be nice. Also does any one have any more info on the Pettit supercharger? Yeah coming from a FD this is a totally different bucket. And please don’t tell me to search because I have been searching for an answer on the description and which one actually works. All I find is people that have them and like them but no long-term answers.

There is also the XEDE from Shiv @ www.vishnutuning.com https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/xede-beta-tester-needed-sf-bay-area-69970/ to add to your confusion. And don't forget that MazdaManiac has the GREddy Ultimate installed and will be giving us an update when he is done with his move.
I'm leaning towards the Interceptor-X, but I doubt that helps your question.

Megasquirt is a do it yourself ecu project that I and brillo are working on. It is going to be the cheapest option by far and very tunable BUT you will have to build the unit yourself. This isn't that difficult but it is a little time consuming. After it gets built, it literally just plugs into the car. This is more for the adventuresome person who has the ability to do things like this and how really doesn't want to pay more than a few hundred for an ecu.
The best currently available over the counter "plug and play" ecu is the Interceptor-X. It is a very nice unit and will give you full control. It is by far my favorite option out there right now.
