console and radio removal and carbon fiber wrap

I'm going to keep this as simple as possible. This is not expert advice and I have pretty much no experience when it comes to this stuff. I gave it a shot and this DIY is meant to just show you what I did and the result. If there is a better way to do it feel free to chime in.

1. Get these tools: 10mm socket and extension, pliers ( just in case clip harness thingees won't come out, screw driver, a box to hold all of your screws, I almost said nuts, a small flat head to pry stuff with, and a dsw bag to put all of your stuff in. Why dsw? That's where real G's buy their shoes from.

2. Let's get the hard stuff out of the way. Get under the steering wheel and luck up toward the center console. There should be a 10mm nut above the round plastic piece in the picture below. Use an extension and you should be fine. If you're fat, this part is probably going to suck.

3. Put your foot on the brake, lower the ebrake and pop out the plastic tab in the pic.

4. Twist the shift **** counter clockwise or to your military left and take it off like so:

http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/017.jpg

5. Take out the center part around the shifter. Just pull it up. There will be two connectors for the seat warmer attached so take those out.

http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/019.jpg

6. There will be two screws for the ashtray. Take them out and then pull out the ash tray. You gotta give it a tug and it will be attached to some wire clips or whatever you call them. Take them out.

http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/023.jpg

7. Don't trip on getting that white light out. Use that small flat head and pry it out like this:
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/025.jpg

8. You see these two screws connecting the bottom of the radio? Take them out
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/027.jpg

9. Pull the bottom of the radio and pull it out. Yes there will be some wire clip thingamajigs attached and that will probably the hardest part of the process. This is where the pliers can come into play. I only used it for the main wiring harness. Be careful and don't get frustrated and just rip it out.

http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/030.jpg

10. The hard part is done. See these two screws for the air vents? Take them out
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/031.jpg

11. Take the air vent out. Just pull it like a G.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/032.jpg

12. You see these two screws holding the top part of the console? Take these out.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/033.jpg

13. Pull the top part off. Be a G
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/035.jpg

14. For the plastic pieces on the doors that has the door locks and window controls; just pull on the bottom and pop it off. Too easy. Disconnect the clip thingees.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/036.jpg
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/037.jpg

15. For the door handles, use the flathead and pry open the circle part
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/039.jpg

16. Take out the screw and pull the part out.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/040.jpg
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/042.jpg

Now it's time to take apart the radio. Be gentle with it.

1. See these two screws? There are two on each side. Take them out. There will be a wire harness thing on the side. You need to unplug that. Then take off the radio.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/045.jpg

2. Now you need to take off that black metal piece from the motherboard or hard drive whatever it's called.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/048.jpg

3. Take the rest of the screws out of the mother board and remove it along with the plastic piece for the hazard lights.
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/049.jpg

4. You should have this
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/051.jpg
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/052.jpg

5. Take out the buttons and the other pieces from the face plate
http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...ah/diy/055.jpg

6. Now get to wrapping. I used 3m di noc. It's so easy to work with. The process is a little time consuming but as with everything else; be a G. I don't even know what G stands for.

Tada

Install everything

regarding the radio, after pulling out the first 2 connectors for the climate control I try to pull the head unit out to unplug the other 3 connectors. However, it won't come all the way out and hence I can't reach behind the radio to unplug the remaining connectors. It feels as if something is jamming the left side of the radio preventing it from coming out, I moved the radio around trying to pull it out but it was in vain. I didn't want to pull too harsh since I don't want to risk messing something up inside.
did you experience any of this?

Nice but you should ask a mod to move this to the DIY section.
