Control Arm Broke!!!!!!

the other day I was driving and I almost missed a turn so i turned into the turn going about 30... 35 or so. I have a 2004 8 and I have taken turns like that at least once a week not mentioning autocross. Anyways as I was turning in I felt a strong SNAP on the left side of my car and lost control of my steering. I flew into the curb completely removing my front left wheel and control arm from my car, not mentioning completely scratching the crap out of the whole side of my car. It turns out it was under warranty because of the control arm recall so they are looking into it now to see where we should go from here. I was wondering if anyone else had any similar problems like this and if so please post your story so it can make my case stronger to the mazda dealership ;-)

Thanks,
Jason

Not really much to say there. There was a recall for that very part, it should have been taken in for the work. I'm assuming, you must not have known? Or did you take it in for the recall?

Are you the first owner of the car? If so, I would think they would have been hounding you to bring in your car, due to their liability.

If Mazda can't prove they sent you any form of notification, I don't see why you need to make an argument to your dealership at all. And if they are giving you a hard time, I'm sure the Department of Transportation would love to hear about it.

I think you should get your lawyer and have him tell you to stop putting posts on this website about autocrossing your car before the people at Mazda figure out who you are. Thats if this story is really true.

jesus christ this forum is the shittiest forum ever. No wonder I stopped posting on this a long time ago. I ask you guys if you have any experience in this situation, I did not ask everyone to critisize my driving. Your not providing any help, even though you make yourself look like a badass. again I ask......... "I was wondering if anyone else had any similar problems like this"... ****** ********.

Obviously someone has seen the problem since there's a recall for the control arm. It is kind of hard to believe you hadn't heard of the recall, but I can understand if you didn't. Have you ever had the car serviced at a dealer? They would've seen the car had not had the recall work done and would've done it at that time.

No one is criticizing your driving. It's kinda hard to drive with a broken suspension.

you need to take a massive chill pill (to quote the 80s). whenson was referring to the fact that some people on this forum have had their warranties revoked for racing & other potentially "abusive" behavior (which we all know is complete bullshit).

anyways, you have the only production run rx8 to exhibit this issue. the issue was discovered with preproduction cars and race cars.

now, take a deep breath, drink a beer, and calm down.

if you are interested, here's the link to the control arm recall.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ht=control+arm

while the car is in getting fixed, make sure they do the fuel tank recall, because you don't want your car burning to the ground after you get it back from this issue...and i'm not aware of anyone actually experiencing catestrophic damage from the fuel tank recall (it gets an exhaust shield put on it), but you seem to be extra lucky.

Classic. People in this thread are sympathizing, in some form or another, and you come back with something like this.

i'm not positive, but iirc, it was thought that the affected control arms were limited to the jdm, but then shortly after that, it was discovered that some of the faulty control arms might have potentially made it into some of the exported models. i might be wrong, but i seem to recall (haha, thats punny) reading that.

Funny thing is we give him advice. Show him the recall notice and he slanders us.

Sounds like he can't read and he is uneducated.

I never got the letter, but got the info from this site (thank you all). However, the dealer just looked at my car and said "there's no crack, you're OK".

The recall was not a mandatory replacement unless you had a part from a specific production run.

My dealer said I had no crack and would not replace my parts either.
Gee did I go to the dealer or the doctor!
Guess I'm ok though with over 52k on the clock.

I do not believe Jesus Christ has anything to do with the forum. But I heard Angel Gabriel drives a pearl white Shinka.

Exactly.... Three posts from this douche and ALL THREE are in this thread, all in the space of one day.

How could you have "stopped posting on this a long time ago"? And WE are the "****** ********"?

I propose that JNUT is a fraud. At least the screen name is accurate.... "NUT".
