Unhappy Crash, Suspension Help

I crashed my babie today, and my right rear wheel was pushed in hitting the sidewalk. Just the rear wheel got bent and my rims fed up, need to get new ones. I took off my wheel and the 2 bottom front bars have been bent. I took them off but do not know where to get replacement parts for a good deal. Where can i look up parts and names of the parts. Will the dealership ripe me off. Also my right side airbags deployed. How much will that run me to fix it. Thanks

How much does it cost to fix that?

Couple thousand bucks thats for SURE.

Airbag deployed ... thats gonna run you a few grand already.

it sounds like you DONT want your insurance to know about this, I think you better off just let them know so they can probably total it.

you're proly looking at 6-8k total and you won't be able to fix it yourself unless you own a body shop.

Insurance fraud is nasty stuff if you get caught.

Even so.........I would imagine that the dealer will inspect every inch, every centimeter of the front-end and side for evidence of an accident that caused the airbag deployment instead of a "defect".

So, If you want to fool the dealer, more than likely the dealer is going to send the car to the body shop to be inspected by the dealers professional staff body shop guys. Unless your body shop/repairs are top notch, you are unlikely to fool their guy and you would be busted.

As far as what repercussions there would be for getting busted......I dunno. Warranty void?

Sorry to hear about your car, and I don't mean to be rude, but man up and pay for the damages you caused rather than passing the cost onto the rest of us.

i lost 3 rims, a hood, fender, fender liner, motor mount, had the frame pulled AND probably 75% of my suspension completely replaced and i wasnt totaled. so dont count on a nice check from insurance if u do tell them.

it all depends.

if it cost more to fix than total it. they WILL total it, even tho it might still be ok.

My insurance company didnt total my car after my accident, and that was with 16k in damage... they offered to total it 'if i wanted' but i said since there was no frame damage i wanted the car fixed. They let me bring it to a body shop that i chose (i knew the owner). I say claim it, that way when theres more damage that you didnt see, it will get fixed as well. and with airbags being a safety item, i wouldnt want the liabiity of not fixing them right.q

Although it may seem like all you did was bend the linkage arms, chances are with an impact as strong as this, is that you bent even the mounts that the arms bolt to.

Lastly, I serious hope you do not report the side air bag being deployed as a defective part. You are seriously underestimating people's intelligence. They will own you in the case of fraud.

If you want to attemp to fix everything yourself, give it a try. It wouldn't hurt to buy the replacement parts for the suspension - you'll need them anyway even if a pro does the work if you fail to fix it.

As for the side air bag being deployed... Forget about replacing it if cost is an issue. Just stuff the bag (uncut) back into the enclosure and wait for used parts to come up in the FS section. Also call up local junk yards and negotiate to buy parts from other wreaks with undamaged airbags. Exactly which air bags blew?

Do you mean if you change out the airbag parts and replace the airbag? Or just stuff it back in?

Sound like what happend to me but my air bags didnt go off. the rear lower controll arms when i went thru ins they charge $600 my 2 they got bent but it u want coil overs and such just go thru ins and replace it your self because the shop will not do as good as u will to own car. But my total cost on my was almost $7000 when that happen. but if u want the money just get a couple estimates and keep the money and do the work or self.

Why not just file the insurance claim and get it taken care of properly?

you w ont know usless you fix it.. just a question were u tyrin to drift or sometihing and did u just hit the rear wheel or did u completely jump the curb. because if i jumped the curb then u have to worrie about that steering which is the Electrionc Assist Steerting becasue that can be must up but you wont know unless u drive it or hook up a code scanner.

dude i smashed rims, shattered control arms, snapped tierods, chipped brake rotors. it can all be fixed. a good shop can put you back on the road. my car drives straight as an arrow. of course this is only my case, but i wish the same to you. but if it works out that theyre gonna total it, you could always get anudder

Your best attempt at being Paul Walker probably didn't bend the frame but you should have it checked. Take the car to a good frame shop in your area and have it measured for square.

This guy probably has everything you need.

If the only way to replace the side impact bag in the seats is to get new seats (doubtful) I have cloth seats available.

Man that sucks man yea I crashed my 8 last year speeding. This might be hash thing to say but if you can’t get insurance probley best thing to do is just pay for the damage yourself. And you really need to go to a professional panel beater and get your car looked at. Hay you know how you said it under your dads name does he have insurance for it? If he does you should try say to the insurance company that he was driving the car. Good luck any way
