Diff Fluid=75w90NS or regular 75w90

Rotary Racing and Reliability as well as Neptune Speed highly recommends staying away from 75w90NS for the tranny.
This is what is recommended by Yoshiya from Neptune Speed:
Transmission: Redline MT90 (Basically 75w90 with some extra additives to help with the syncromesh)
Differential: Redline 75w90

whats wrong with Redline gear oils for daily driver? i have MT90 here and its fine. Ive heard that they're really not good at all till they're warmed up. I have a daily commute of 20 miles one way and 20 miles home. Ne3at thing is that both my home and work are really really close to the freeways on ramp;like less than a mile off the off ramps. so i was under the impression that as long as i can get goin at 60mphon the freeway, the fluid will heat up to good temps and be ready for anything( stuck traffic= lotsa shifting though not common on my commute). Ive also heard around here that someone recommended someone to use mobil gear oils for daily drivers but i cant find that thread anymore.

It really depends, I use to run Redline Heavy Shockproof and that's rated at 75w250 (it's colored pink and it's really really thick, it looks like a slushy when I put it into the pump). With something that thick, it takes a while for it to warm up, as for MT90, it's rated at 75w90, which is the exact same thing as OEM so it warms up pretty quickly.

theres no real harm though right? i thought that since the arguement was the fluid was meant to be used at high temps, that it would only be harmful for those who live deep in the city with lots of stop and go to begin their day and the fluid just gets slushed around and not warmed up thoroughly, thus leading to hard shifts and increased wear due to not having warmed the gear fluid first thing. I actually use all of the 4k revs allowed on a cold motor and try to shift as less as possible till i hit the freeway 1st thing in the morning. After that, its smooth till the next morning.

As long as you don't go into Speed Racer mode and let the car warm up to the proper temps, it'll be fine. Once the motor's warmed up, the transmission and differential fluids should be up to normal operating temps as well... though some people likes to argue that the transmission and differential takes longer to warm up...

Okay, this question's going back to the basics. It's going to be a kindergarten question in a high school thread...
Are we talking about regular diff and tranny fluids? I heard that the 8 requires some special fluid that costs and arm and a leg. Is that what we're talking about here or are you guys talking about the same stuff you'd find in a mustang, chevy truck and a crown vic?
BTW, I have an 04 AT and am ready for tranny and diff fluid changes soon. I'd like to not blow more than necessary on this little go around

We are talking about fluids for the Manual Transmission. As for the differential, it uses 75w90 with GL-5.
As for the 4AT, the transmission fluid is going to be ATF, just look in your owner's manual for the grade.
EDIT: I'm not so sure about the 4AT but the 6AT requires a little bit under 10qts of ATF... If you're going Redline or Royal Purple (Yes, Royal Purple is safe on the Automatics), be prepared to pay about $100 on just the fluids alone.

I particularly like it better than MT90 when the trans is cold, can't tell the difference when they're hot
and let's please not take Sherman & Peabody's Way Back machine to engage in the outdated GL4 vs GL5 argument that doesn't apply with these particular fluids
MT90 or 75W90NS, either one is acceptable in the RX-8 manual trans
I only run the 75W140NS because the added durability under racing conditions outweighs the slightly higher frictional loss
EDIT
Redline manual trans oil white paper: http://www.redlineoil.com/pdf/6.pdf
Redline gear oil white paper: http://www.redlineoil.com/pdf/5.pdf
technically you could buy only Redline 75W90NS and use it in both the trans and diff to have only one oil that can go in either, you can't use MT90 in the differential
.
