Differences in ECU's between 4 port and 6 port?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there are any differences in the 4 port and 6 port ECU's?

i.e. are they are completely different unit? do they have the same wiring loom etc.?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone got any ideas?

I would assume that the tune itself would be different between the two engines/ecu's.

But I want to know if the wiring in the unit itself is different etc.

Anyone have access to part numbers?

Checked the parts catalog for Europe, the PCM's for Hi Power and Std Power (or 5spd transmission and 6spd transmission as they are categorized in the catalog) are definitely different.

I suppose it doesn't go as far as the board itself?

I would assume that some of the wiring is slightly different, and the map itself.

Would like to know if the board is different?

I wonderif the primary port that opens at 3750 RPM on 6speed also opens at 3750 on the automatic

Don't you mean secondaries? Primary ports run all the time. Secondaries open around 3750rpm (on the 4 port engines).

Yesthats what I meant. So Iguess that the keeping RPMs below 3750 manuever for better gas mileage is alsorelevant to the automatic Rx8s too. Forsome reason I just had a feeling that the secondaries opened a littlebit earlier on the automatic since the manual runs much differentlyand has the extra 1500 RPM.
