NY DIS Cable?

How goes it folks,

Been reading the forums since I bought an 04 rx8 as my first car a month ago. I've managed to keep it out of the mechanic aside from banging it up the first week I got it. I floored it 2 nights ago and the CEL flashed rapidly as I accelerated--It went off after I let go of the gas and I managed to drive it for a good 2 hours after that back home w/o any probs.

When I started it today, it started up fine (aside from the lengthy crank--which is probably due to spark plugs I need to change) ...10 minutes into the ride, I accelerated to around 40mph and poof...engine shuts off in the middle of a busy street during morning rush hour(I live in NYC), CEL comes on. I remembered the steps in the manual and managed to get it started again after about 10 minutes. CEL stayed on, I shut it off for a bit and the CEL light didn't come back on.

I took a look under the hood and found a cable labeled DIS on the right side of the engine was disconnected and out of place...there are two of them. Does anyone know what this cable is for?

Looks like either coil or spark plug cable/wire. Check to see if they are on and snuggly.

Your post belongs in the next forum UP.

Also, there are 4 of those wires.
You might want to check the others, just in case.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section. Mods, please move as necessary.

Just got back from the Mechanic, turns out --I'll need a new engine due to low compression. Hopefully that's covered under the Warranty extension program.
