Diving back into the RX8
About a year ago I sold my 8 as I was dissatisfied with its performance as a daily driver and power output. We all know you can get 400+ hp builds but durability was always an issue with me (not being sure about all the weak links & how to fix them). Therefore I sold it to work on the vehicles I already have. However, I will be building a car that will not be a daily driver. So I have a few questions for the gurus as I tackle this plan.
1.) I will be getting a brand new built engine in a few weeks. New housings, new rotors.. Only thing used will be the eshaft & front cover. How long can the engine safely sit after its been assembled and stored in a nice clean place, wrapped to keep any dust or particles from settling in or on it? Will i need to manually turn it once a month? twice a month?
2.) Shift forks. I've read a lot about the 2 gear shift forks giving out in hard driving scenarios. Is there any type of fix or workaround, or should I prepare to fit a T56? Should a consider a S2 tranny instead? I will start with at least 370 hp in this car.
