Driver side power window issues

Okay, this is scaring me a bit because this happened on my old 300ZX and it ended up costing an arm and a leg to fix. My 2004 RX is having some issues with the driver's side power window. Last week, I noticed when "rolling" up the window, after it reached the top, it made an awful low pitched noise like the motor wanted to keep moving the window up (unlike before, when it seemed to "know" when it reached the top). Now, when "rolling" it down, sometimes it stops midway (even though my finger is still on the button), and I have to give it a slight push so it will continue to roll down. Anyone else have this issue ? Fix for it ?

no one knows anything on this ? Anyone local in the area who'd be willing to fix it for a few bucks without needing me to drop it off (it's my own car right now) ?

Well, no one responded, but I managed to figure it out (to help anyone else out there who might have this issue). Turns out it was the motor. I took out the window motor and felt a small clicking when it rotated (like a gear spoke was broken), sure enough, new motor, works fine.

bump

so i have the same problem with my 04 :-( on my previous car the same thing happened, but all i had to do was replace a small plastic gear; the motor itself was fine.

does anyone know if i can just buy and replace the broken part in the motor? i really don't want to spend the $ for a whole new window motor.

Is yours on the driver's or passenger's side ? The motor seems to have the gear enclosed, so that's why I had to replace the motor. I got one cheap, so it wasn't a big deal and overall, was a LOT simpler to work on than my old Z.

It's fairly straightforward. Expect to get a little grease on ya, but once you get the trim panel off, it's pretty much three bolts. Just be careful to line everything up good and you'll be fine.
