Dropped a socket... where'd it go?

Hey guys, I'm trying to find a socket that I dropped while playing around in the engine bay. It fell into the slot just to the right of the battery compartment and I can't seem to find it. Any idea where it ended up and how I can get to it? haha thanks...

It's likely in the fan shroud between the fan blades and the radiator....or else it fell down into the undertray..or around the steering rack

If it's in the rad fan you don't want to run the car till you find it

Look in the front lower...and tap on the plastic undertray...if it is down there it will bounce around....

Otherwise you might have to pull the battery box to see down into the rad area

Get a long magnet tool to get it out

A magnetic tool tray in invaluable when working around the engine, just something to think about for the future. I would also suggest a very bright flashlight, peering around while shining that light should help you find it more easily... if it's somewhere that can be seen.

Last time I dropped something there, it actually was on the outside of the fan shroud, down around the righthand side of the curve of the fan shroud when standing in front of the car. Had to take the battery and top of the battery tray off to see it to really find it.
Might as well give you one more spot to look!

LOL @ this whole thread. . . this is like the story of my life.

I think I threw off the weight balance of my car by dropping like 4-5 different 10mm sockets into my engine bay and never finding them again.

Hasn't hurt it since. . . been autocrossing, etc... I'm sure they're either lodged securely or more than likely, on the side of the road.
